ACKNOWLEDMENTS
Many sources
were used in the collection of the information in this document. Karl's
first interest in family history was stimulated by his grandmother, Edith
(nee Lyons) Furr. She introduced Karl to the McComb Family Register and
told him something of the Furr family history. Some of Cynthia's early
introduction to her family history was from her adoptive grandfather, John
Thompson. A number of people have provided information. Some of it came
from Karl's own research, especially in the form of interviews with David
and Juanita Furr and Edith Furr. We acknowledge specifically Cynthias'
sister, the late Dorcas Roscoe, Ed Herrick, Mindy Shadle, Marybelle Bentley
(of Toledo, Ohio), Doris Falkenheimer, Judy Abernathy Ward (of Lynn, Indiana
47355), Karen Roger, and Gary Williams.
The resources
of a number of libraries have been invaluable. They include the Ottawa
Public Library, the Isabel Turner Branch of the Kingston-Frontenac Public
Library, The National Library and the National Archives in Ottawa, and
the Latter Day Saints Family History Centre in Kingston. A number of Internet
web sites also have been invaluable. They include the Latter Day Saints
FamilySearch web site, the GenWeb Project, the Mendenhall Family Association
web site, and GENDEX.
The information
we have collected has been stored in the Family Tree Maker program and
the Personal Ancestor File.

Shelly Hallard
of Ohio who hosts the "Foor Family Genealogy Website" at www.geocities.com/foorgenealogy
(shellyinoh@geocities.com) has some important observations about copyright
and genealogical research. She grants permission for people to taking their
direct-line ancestry (up to twenty individuals) as long as they document
their source. (Copying more information on more than twenty individuals
requires specific permission from her.) She prohibits submitting her information
to commerical site such as Family Tree Maker, LDS's "Familysearch.com",
Ancestry, Kindred Konnections and Everton's.
These are probably reasonable guidelines
to follow.
