Digital Scrapbooking Elements Ideas

Ok, so you have folders and folders full of papers, embellishments, word art, overlays, alphabets, frames etc.

Don't think of these items as strictly scrapbooking graphics~!

There are soooo many things you can use them for other than scrapbooking.
I'm going to show you a few things that I've used them for.

~ TILE IT ~

When we first moved into this house a few years back we ended up with quite a few extra ceramic tiles left over. On my computer I decorated a picture that I wanted to print with elements. I then took one of the tiles that was 6" by 8" and I printed off the picture just slightly smaller then the tile. Using Mod Podge (a white pasty gluey substance ...lol - you can get at any craft store) I spread it evenly over the front of the tile with a small paint brush. I then placed the picture on top of the tile and used the side of my hand to smooth it out. I let it dry for a few hours and then went back and spread Mod Podge right over top of the picture (making sure to go over all the edges) evenly. If you print your own pictures make sure it is very dry. I've never had a picture smear on me yet! That's it ... let it dry over night. I picked up a few plate stands at the dollar store and they were perfect!
P.S. - I also put felt on the back of all the tile projects listed here. They had some at the dollar store that is sticky on one side and it really finished them off nice.

I found it was pretty scary using the Mod Podge on top of the picture because it goes on just like white paste. But it does dry clear!. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was it left a brush texture on the picture. (I also tried using a smooth sponge and it still left a slight texture). That isn't a bad thing, it kinda gives it character. Mod Podge comes in Matte or glossy. I used the Matte finish.

I have also done it a different way. I used Mod Podge to paste the picture onto the tile. After it was dry I sprayed the whole picture lightly with spray varathane (3 light coats letting it dry in between). That works well also and you can get a smoother surface. Make sure the mod podge holding the picture down is very dry before spraying.

~ TILE IT SMALLER ~

Another thing I did was used 4" by 4" tiles and made coasters. I used the same procedure as above with the Mod Podge. I just put an edging around these ones so it looks like the coaster has a border. But you can decorate them to your hearts content~! And yes, you can use them ... lol. We've been using these ones for over a year and they just wipe clean. Don't forget to put felt on the back~!

~ TILE IT BIGGER ~

OK, we also had floor tiles left over ...lol. The tiles were 13" by 13". (I have a printer that will print up to 13" wide) Again I used the same procedure as above with the Mod Podge. On this one I got my husband to drill a hole in the top two corners of the tile so I could hang it. Before I pasted the picture on to the tile I hole punched the picture exactly where he had drilled the holes. After everything was dry I put a string through the holes and voila~!

Scrapbooking Idea 4

~ FRAME IT ~

This is another way to display pictures. For this one I used two of the frames I made about cats. (See them HERE) I printed them off aproximately 8" by 8" each. I then bought this floating frame that had no matte in it. This frame fit the two pictures perfectly leaving a nice space around both of them.

~ FRAME IT LARGE ~

This next project took a bit of time. I bought this large floating frame (36" by 24"). I then picked out the pictures I wanted to use. I decorated each one differently using word art and many elements. I then had to figure out what size I was going to print each picture so that in the end it would look balanced and I could fit them all in. The pictures I printed range anywhere from 4" by 6" to 6" by 8". There are even some odd ball sizes just to make things fit. I printed a bunch out on larger paper and cut them out. I ended up just turning the temporary paper that was in the frame when I purchased it (with the product details) around and used the white side to attach the pictures to. I then topped it off with wooden letters spelling FAMILY.
