FOUR HORSES OF REVELATION

This Lord's word explained bible study document, will discuss the Four Horses of Revelation. I will show you the man who is riding the four horses, also known as the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Please keep in mind 2 things when reading Revelations, as well as this document, 1) John is in the spirit when these things are revealed to him, Rev.1:10, and 2) this is the Revelation (the revealing) of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him (Jesus) to shew (to minister, teach, or reveal) unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass ....Rev.1:1

All text taken from the version of the King James Bible

Before you can understand the Four Horses of Revelation, it would be helpful to read the following documents: Comforter, Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit; Spirit of Truth--The Wisdom of God; Revelation Beasts--Good and Evil; Crown(s); Sword of the Spirit--Word of God; Famine / Hunger; and The Four Winds (Spirits) of Revelation. These documents are very important in understanding the keyes of the four horses, you may print a copy out so you can refer to them if you wish, to may make it easier. A few other verses have been included in this document before getting started to help you understand some of the references later on.

Rev.5:12 - Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. (13) And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, hear I say, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power [be] unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

Repeating part of the above verse - ...and power [be] unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. Also repeating part of Rev.5:12 - ...Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power .... remember this when you read Rev. 6:4.

Let us take a look at the description in the book of Zechariah when the Word of the LORD comes to him, where we get a little better look at the horses, sometimes referred to as chariots, but they are the same thing.

Zech.1:8-11 - And saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that [were] in the bottom and behind him [were there] red horses, speckeled, (bay) and white. (9) Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be. (10) And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These [are they] whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth. (11) And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.

Vision of the Four Chariots

Zech.6:1-8 - And I (Zechariah) turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass. (2) In the first chariot [were] red horses; and in the second chariot black horses; (3) And in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay (strong) horses. (4) Then I (Zechariah) answered and said unto the angel that talked with me, What [are] these my lord? (5) And the angel answered and said unto me, These [are] the four spirits (winds, or breath) of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth. (6) The black horses which [are] therein go forth into the north country; and the white go forth after them; and the grisled go forth toward the south country. (7) And the bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and fro through the earth. So they walked to and fro through the earth. (8) Then cried he upon me, and spake unto me, saying, Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country.

spirits - #7307 - ruwach - from # 7306 - AV - Spirit or spirit, wind, breath, side, mind, blast, vain, air, anger, cool, courage - 1) wind, breath, mind, spirit, 1g) Spirit of God, the third person of the triune God, the Holy Spirit, coequal, coeternal with the Father and the Son

from #7306 - ruwach - a primitive root - AV - smell, touch, quick understanding, accept - 1a) of horse - Please see - The Four (Spirit) Winds of Revelaton; Comforter, Holy Ghost/Spirit, Spirit of Truth--The Wisdom of God

If you read Ex.40:34-38, you will see how Moses and the Israelite people were led during their journey in the wilderness.

Is.63:10-14 - But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, [and] he fought against them. (11) Then he remembered the days of old Moses [and] his people, [saying], Where [is] he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where [is] he that put his holy Spirit within him? (12) That led [them] by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name? (13) That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, [that] they should not stumble? (14) As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.

For a little extra information, read Rev.7:1-3 for yourself while you still have the four spirits (winds or breath) in your mind.

Now let us begin -

FOUR HORSES OF REVELATION

Rev.6:1 - And I (John) saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.

seal #4973 - spragis - AV - seal - probably strengthened from #5420 - phrasso - AV - stop - 1) to fence in, block up, stop up, close up, 2) to put to silence - apparently a strengthening from of the base of #5424 - phren - AV - understanding - 2) the mind, 2a) the faculty of perceiving and judging - probably from an obsolete phrao (to rein in or curb, cf #5420) - see above

thunder #1027 - bronte - akin to bremo (to roar) - AV - thunder, thundering - 1) thunder - found in:- Mark 3:17; John 12:29; Rev.4:5; Rev.6:1; Rev.8:5; Rev.10:3, 4 (twice); Rev.11:19; Rev.14:2; Rev.16:18; Rev.19:6 - and all verses refer to God/the Spirit, making this sound

For a description of the four beasts, please read Rev.4:2-9 or see Revelation Beasts--Good and Evil. Also read Ezek.1:26-28

Rev.6:2 - And I (John) saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering and to conquer.

a white #3022 - leukos - from luke ("light") - AV - white - this number can be found 25 times in the Bible - Matt.5:36; Matt.17:2; Matt.28:3; Mark 9:3; Mark 16:5; Luke 9:29; John 4:35; John 20:12; Acts 1:10; Rev.1:14 (twice); Rev.2:17; Rev.3:4, 5, 18; Rev.4:4; Rev.6:2, 11; Rev.7:9, 13; Rev.14:14; Rev.19:11, 14 (twice); Rev.20:11

All of the above scriptural references are either Jesus speaking, or referring to Jesus. Nowhere in the above scriptures does it refer to Satan/devil, the antichrist or the false prophet(s) - nowhere!

bow #5115 - toxon - AV - bow - This number is found only once in the Bible, however, this word is from the base of #5088, to let us take a look at:

Gen.49:24 - But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty [God] of Jacob; (from thence [is] the shepherd, the stone of Israel:) {The Shepherd, the Rock of Israel}

We know that Lord / Jesus Christ is our rock and the chief corner stone - See - Dream of the Great (and Terrible) Image

Ps.18:2 - The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

I Cor.10:4 - And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed (went with) them: and that Rock was Christ:

(14) And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: (16) And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that [is] upon the earth.

You must be careful when you are reading Rev.12:4, that you do not become confused and think that it is referring to Satan for the entire verse - part of the verse is referring to him, but, the # and word is what we must concentrate on, - read Rev.12:1 to keep the story line straight.

crown #4735 - stephano - AV - crown - from an apparently primary stepho (to twine or wreathe) - AV - crown found 18 times. Matt.27:29; Mar 15:17; John 19:2; I Cor.9:25; Phil.4:1; I Thes.2:19; II Tim.$:8; James 1:12; I Peter 5:4; Rev.2:10; Rev.3:11; Rev.4:4, 10; Rev.6:2; Rev.12:1; Rev.14:14

Is.62:1-3 - For Zion's sake will I (the Lord) not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I (the Lord) will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp [that] burneth. (2) And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name. (3) Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.

and thou shalt be called by a new name - Is.62:2

Is.65:15 - And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord God shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name:

Rev.3:12 - Him that overcometh will I (Jesus) make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I (Jesus) will wirte upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, [which is] new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and [I will write upon him] my new name. - See - The Husband and the Bride --The Kingdom of God; Parable of the Fruit--Tree of Life; Pray and Prayer; Born Again, (or From Above)

crown of glory - Is.62:3

Zech.9:16 - And the LORD their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people: for [they shall be as] the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon his land.

In Is.62:3, the word crown is #5850 - atarah - AV - crown - 1) crown, wreath - from #5849 - atar - AV - crown, compass, crowning - 2) to crown, give a crown.

Ps.45:4-5 - And in thy majesty ride prosperously because truth and meekness [and] righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things. (5) Thine arrows [are] sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; [whereby] the people fall under thee.

To show you that a horse is a spirit, (holy Spirit) please read Is. chap. 63 - I will begin with:-

In the document - Comforter, Holy Ghost/Spirit, Spirit of Truth--The Wisdom of God, I have given you the words and numbers you could look up for yourself, the word, "Spirit," if you take it back to the root word, one of the meanings is:- of horse.

There is one more verse with the word "crown" and #4735, but it needed some explanation, it is:-

Rev.9:7 - And the shapes of the locust [were] like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads [were] as it were crowns like gold, and their faces [were] as the faces of men.

on their heads [were] as it were crowns like gold - Rev.9:7

Notice it says "crowns like gold" not of gold. Let us turn to:-

Please read all of Nahum chapter 3, I will use verse -

Nahum 3:17 - Thy crowned [are] as the locust, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, [but] when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they [are].

After you have read all of Nahum chapter 3, then read the Parable of the Good Shepherd, and pay special attention to John 10:12-13, where it speaks of a hireling, and I have described what this means.

Now let us go back to Nahum 3:17, and I will explain some of the words

Thy crowned #4502 - minn@zar - AV - crowned - 1) princes, annointed ones, consecrated ones, - from #5144 - nazar - AV - separate, consecrate - 1) to dedicate, consecrate, separate, 1a) (Niphal) to dedicate oneself, devote oneself

[are] as the locust #697 - 'arbeh - AV - locust grasshopper - 1) a kind of locust, locust swarm, (coll.,) 2c) activity (fig.) - from #7235 - rabah - AV - multiply, increase, great, exceedingly much, much, as will as other words. 1) be or become great, be or become many, be or become much, be or become numerous, 1c1b) to make much to do, do much in respect of transgress greatly

and thy captains #2951 - tipfcar - AV - captain - 1) scribe, offical, marshall

as the great grasshoppers #1462 - gowb - AV - grasshoppers - 1)locust - from #1461 - guwb - AV - husbandman

in the hedges #1448 - g@derah - AV - hedge, fold, wall, sheepfold, sheepcote - 1) wall, hedge - from #1447 - AV - wall hedge, fence - 1) fence, wall - from #1443 - gadar - a primitive root - AV - make, mason, repairer, close up, fenced up, hedged, inclosed - 1) to wall up, wall off, close off, build a wall, 1a1) to wall up, shut off

They used to keeping sheep contained within a hedge or walls of stone, and is probably still done today in some places. But what this is referring to is:- the people are sheep and the hedge is the walls of the church/building, (in this case the material which is used to form a building). Keeping the people contained within the ideas or beliefs of that particular church/organization. Many people do not read or study the Bible themselves, so they only know what their minister, pastor, preacher or rabbi, etc., tell them.

but when the sun #8121 - shenesh - from an unused root meaning - to be brillant.

So let's sum up Nahum 3:17 - Thy crowned or dedicated or devoted ones, are as the locust or have become great, and thy captains, or scribes, as the great grasshopper, or dedicated/devoted ones/husbandman - in otherwords - your pastor, preacher, minister, priest, rabbi, etc., one who receives a payment to teach you - which camp in the hedges, (churches) in the cold day, meaning, now today, [but] when the sun ariseth they flee away, or when the brightness/ the Lord comes, they will flee away - (Why? because many are not teaching you what the Bible or the Lord says) and their place is not known where they [are]. They are like the "hireling" in the Parable of the Goodshepherd.

Perhaps a better example to use to show you that the Holy Ghost/Spirit (the Lord) is a horse in the story of when the Lord would take Elijah up to heaven and Elisha succeeds Elijah in:-

II Kings 2:1 & 9-12 - And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. (9) And it came to pass, when they (Elijah and Elisha) were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elish said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. (10) And he (Elijah) said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: [nevertheless,] if thou see me [when I am] taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be [so.] (11) And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that behold [there appeared] a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind (or, a tempest/storm cloud) into heaven. (12) And Elisha saw [it,] and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

Let me explain some of the words/phrases in the above scripture.

and horses - #5483 - cuwc or cuc - from an unused root meaning to skip (properly, for joy) - AV - horse, crane horseback, horsehoofs - 2) horse, 2a) chariot horses - this number can be found 140 times in the Bible

My father - #01 - 'ab - a root - AV - father, chief, families, desire, fatherless + 0369, forefather + 7223, patrimony, prince, principal - 2) of God as father of his people - this number can be found 1215 times

of Israel - #3487 - Yisra'el - AV - Israel, Israelites - Israel = "God prevails" - this number can be found 2505 times in the Bible - from #8280 - a primitive root - AV - power - 1) contend, have power, contend with, persist, exert oneself, persevere found in - Gen.32:28, Hosea 12:3 - also from #410 - 'el - AV - God, god, power, mighty, goodly, great, idols, Immanuel +6005, might, strong - 1d) God, the one true God, Jehovah - shortened from #352 - 'ayil - AV - ram(s), post(s), mighty (men), trees, lintel, oaks - this number found 185 times in the Bible - from the same as #193 - 'uwl - from an unused root meaning to twist, i.e. (by implication) be strong - AV - mighty, strength - 1) prominence

and the horsemen - #6571 - parash - AV - horsemen, horsemen + 1167 - 2) horseman - this number can be found 57 times in the Bible - from #6567 - parash - a primitive root - AV - shew, scatter, declare, distinctly, sting - 1) to make distinct, declare, distinguish, separate - found in:- Lev.24:12; Num.15:34; Neh.8:8; Prov.23:32; Ezek.34:12

Here we have Elijah who was to be taken up by a whirlwind, or a tempestous storm and that there appeared a chariot, or somebody on horseback that was fiery and the horses of fire also, to take Elijah and Elisha cried my father, my father, the chariot of Israel and the horsemen thereof, so Elish saw Elijah being taken up by the fiery horsemen, who is of course - the Lord - see II Kings 2 verse 1 above, however, it would have been a spirit that Elisha saw, not God himself, as no one has seen God - John 1:18 - No man hath seen God at any time; ....

Now let's get back to -

and a crown was given unto him - Rev.6:2

Rev.14:14 - And I (John) looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud [one] sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

Notice: the Son of man has on his head a golden crown. Remember in Rev.9:7 - the locust had on their heads crowns like gold.

Son of man - Rev.14:14

Dan.7:13-14 I (David) saw in the night visions, and, behold, [one] like the Son of man came with clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. (14) And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion [is] an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom [that] which shall not be destroyed.

like the Son of man came with clouds of heaven - Dan.7:13

Ezekiel chapter 1 - is the vision of the "living creatures," you can read the chapter for yourself, I will just use -

Ezek.1:26 & 28 - And above the firmament that [was] over their heads [was] the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne [was] the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. (28) As the appearance of the bow (#7198) that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so [was] the appearance of the brightness round about. This [was] the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I (Ezekiel) saw [it] I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

Matt.24:30 - And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Matt.26:64 - Jesus saith unto him, (the high priest), Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Rev.1:7 - Behold, he (the Son of man) cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they [also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Rev.6:2 ...and he (the Son of man/Jesus) went forth conquering and to conquer.

conquering and conquer #3528 - nikao - AV - overcome, conquer, prevail, get the victory - 1a1) of Christ, victorious over all His foes; 1a2) of Christians, that hold fast their faith even unto death against the power of their foes, and temptations and persecutions.

The following scriptures have #3528 - nikao - Luke 11:22 (overcome); John 16:33 (overcome); Rom.3:4 (overcome); Rom.12:21 (overcome); I John 2:13, 14 (overcome); I John 4:4, 5 (overcome); I John 5:5 (overcometh); Rev.2:7, 11, 17, 26 (overcometh); Rev.3:5, 12, 21 (overcometh); Rev.5:5 (prevailed); Rev.6:2 (conquering & conquer); Rev.11:7 (overcome); Rev.12:11 (overcame); Rev.13:7 (overcome); Rev.15:2 (them that had gotten the *victory); Rev.17:14 (shall overcome); Rev.21:7 (He that overcometh)

The word *victory which appears in Rev.15:2 is also #3528 - nikao - AV - overcome, conquer, prevail get the victory

Jesus is the only one who has overcome, Jesus is the only one who has conquer(ed), Jesus is the only one who has prevailed, and Jesus is the only one who has, or, will have gotten the victory -- not Satan/the devil, not the antichrist and not the false prophets, ONLY JESUS/THE SON OF MAN. So Jesus is riding the white horse in Rev.6:2 - or the Spirit of Christ - the Comforter. - See the definitions in - Comforter, The Holy Ghost/Spirit, The Spirit of Truth--The Wisdom of God

John 16:13-15 - Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. (14) He (the Spirit of truth) shall glorify me: (Jesus), for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew [it] unto you. (15) All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I (Jesus) that he shall take of mine, and shall shew [it] unto you. - See - Comforter, The Holy Ghost/Spirit, Spirit of Truth--The Wisdom of God.

I John 5:6-7 - This is he that came by water and blood, [even] Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. (7) For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word (the Son), and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

John 10:30: - I (Jesus) and [my] Father are one.

Let us also take a look at the next scripture in -

Zech.9:14 - And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord GOD shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.

Then you might also like to read Revelation 6:2 - what usually goes with a bow are arrows and in the above verse it says, ...his (the LORD's) arrow shall go forth as the lightning:....

I have looked up every scripture with the word "arrow," and the word "bow," and I it does not lead me to believe that the man riding the white horse in Rev.6:2 is Satan, the antichrist, or a false prophet. On the contrary, it only makes for a stronger case, the one riding the white horse in Rev.6:2 is the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Let us continue with -

Rev.6:3-4 - And when he (the Lamb) had opened the second seal, I (John) heard the second beast say, Come and see. (4) And there went out another horse [that] was] red: and [power] was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

red #4450 - purrhos - 1) having the colour of fire, red - from #4442 - a root word - AV - fire, fiery 1) fire

There is only one other scripture where this number appears, it is in Rev.12:3 where it refers to "a great red dragon," However, the #4442 - is a root word - AV - fire, fiery 1) fire - can be found 74 times, eg.

Matt3:11 - I (John the Baptist) indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me (Jesus) is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he (Jesus) shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and [with] fire:

peace #1515 - eirene - probably from a primary verb eiro (to join) - AV - peace, one, rest, quietness - 2) peace between individuals, ie, harmony, concord; 3) security, safety, prosperity, felicity, (because peace and harmony make and keep things safe and prosperous)

they should kill #4969 - sphazo - AV - slay, kill, wound. This number is also found in I John 3:12 (twice); Rev.5:6, 9, 12; Rev.6:4, 9; Rev.13:3, 8, and Rev.18:24

there was given #1325 - didomi - a prolonged from of a primary verb (which is used as an alternate in most of the tenses) - AV - give, grant, put, show, deliver, make. 2) to give something to someone, 2c) to supply, furnish, necessary things.

sword #3162 - machaira - AV - sword - there are many different types of swords - from a presumed derivative of #3163 - mache - AV - fighting, strife, striving 1) a fight or combat, 1c) a quarrel - from #3164 - machomai - AV - strive, fight - 1) to fight; 1b) of those engaged in a war of words, to quarrel, wrangle, dispute - middle voice of an apparently root word.

Matt.10:34 - Think not that I (Jesus) am come to send peace on the earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. (#3162)

Eph.6:17 - And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword (#3162) of the Spirit, which is the word of God. - See - Sword of the Spirit--Word of God

Heb.11:34 - Quenched the violence of the fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

In this case, it does not mean an implement or tool, for fighting in combat, as we see in John 18:11 when Jesus said to Peter - ...Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

It is a war of "evil spirits" - ...the rulers of the darkness of this world,.... (see Eph.6:12, below) that we must fight against - many of which take place in your own mind. It is your own personal battle against these "evil spirits," which Jesus is referring to that you must be able to overcome and to conquer and gain the victory. We must learn to control our emotions - anger, hate, jealousy, lust etc, these are some of the emotions that we have to learn to control, to conquer, to can gain the victory over - and we must learn to "bridleth our tongue," - in otherwords, learn to control what we say to others - don't just mouth off just because you wanted to, (see James 1:26 below, also read all of James chapter 3 for yourself - See - Parable of the Fruit--Tree of Life to see what some of the "spirits of the flesh," are.

Eph.6:12 - For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. - Please continue reading Eph.6:13-18 for yourself

James 1:26 - If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. - See - Iniquity and Vanity

James 3:2, 6 & 8 - For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. (6) And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. (8) But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. - See -

Now the above scripture does not mean that you actually put a muzzle on your mouth, or that you need to purchase some medication to heal it, because the scripture said it was full of deadly poison, nor does it mean that you cut your tongue out, it just means that you must learn to control what you say. You are the one who must learn to control what you say, you must learn to overcome, to conquer and gain the victory over the evil spirits/Satan, just as Jesus Christ has conquered and overcame the evil spirits/Satan - Jesus has gained the victory, and he came to show us what we must do so that we also can conquer, and gain the victory.

Now let us continue with -

the violence of the fire - Heb.11:34

Dan.3:24-25 - Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, [and] spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. (25) He (Nebuchadnezzar) answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

So let's look at Rev.6:4 again - ...there went out another horse [that was] red: (fiery), and [power] was given to him that sat thereon (Rev.5:12 ...the Lamb that was slain to receive power,....) to take peace(ie, harmony, concord, securty, safety), from the earth, and that they should kill one another: (one another, some) and there was given (given, granted, supplied), a great sword. (fight, strife, war of words, to quarrel, wrangle, dispute)

Most of the scripture that I have referred to for this section (Rev.6:3-4) refers to Jesus, the only scripture which did not refer to Jesus was Rev.12:3, where it refers to "a great red dragon" and Rev.13:3, 8. Divide the scripture of Rev.13:8 - part refers to the great beast rising up out of the sea and the dragon which gave him his power and his seat, and the other part of the scripture which refers to the names that are not written in the book of the Lamb - slain from the foundation of the world. Eph.6:12 and James 1:26 show us what we must do, see explanation above, and James 3:2, 6 & 8, show us that our tongue is an unruly member of our body and that we must learn to control it or bridle it and if we are able to do this then we are "able also to bridle the whole body." - James 3:2

To date, I have not found any scripture where Satan/the devil etc., has been given a sword, but perhaps I missed it. Yes, Satan is wrangling, disputing and quarrelling, but he has been doing this since he deceived Eve in the garden of Eden, he was not given this (sword) - he took this position, because he thought himself so beautiful, and thinks that he, (Satan, also known as Lucifer #1966 - Is.14:12) is going to ascend into heaven and exalt his throne above the stars of God, and be like the most High - Is.14:13-14. So if Satan has not been given a "great" sword, then he is NOT riding the red horse. - See the definitions in - The Enemy - The Devil and His Followers

Lucifer #1966 - heylel - this word is found only once in the Bible - Lucifer - "light-bearer"; 1)shining one, morning star, Lucifer, 1a) of the king of Babylon and Satan (fig.) - from #1984 (in the sense of brightness) - halal - a primitive root - AV - praise, glory, boast, mad, shine, foolish, fools, commended, rage, celebrate, give, marriage, renowned - 1b) (Hiphil) to flash forth light; 2a1) to be boastful

For further explanation of Satan and Lucifer etc.and word definitions of these, see - The Enemy - The Devil and His Followers

I have given you word definitions and scripture for who is riding the second horse. Again, it is NOT Satan/the devil etc., it is not the antichrist, and it is not the false prophet(s). It is the Spirit of Christ - the Holy Ghost/Spirit/Comforter/The Spirit of Truth.

Rev.6:5 - And when he (the Lamb) had opened the third seal, I (John) heard the third beast say, Come and see, And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.

a pair of balances #2218 -zugos - AV - yoke, pair of balances (scales) -1b) metaphor, used of any burden or bondage, 1b1) as that of slavery - from the root of zeugnumi (to join, especially by a "yoke"), 2) a balance, pair of scales

Matt.11:29-30 - Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; (Jesus), for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (30) For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light.

Gal.5:1 - Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage

This number, 2218, can also be found in Acts 15:10 and I Tim.6:1.

hand #5495 - cheir - AV - hand, not, 2) fig. applied to God symbolising his might, activity, power. - perhaps from the base of #5494 - cheimon - AV - winter, tempest, foul weather - from a derivative of cheo (to pour, akin to the base of #5490 through the idea of a channel), meaning a storm (as pouring rain) --also, in the sense of its congener of the base of #5490 (through the idea of hollowness for grasping) - chasma - AV - gulf - from a form of an obsolete prim chao (to "gape" or "yawn") this #5490 is found only once in the Bible - Luke 16:26

Rev.6:6 - And I (John) heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and [see] thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

[see] thou hurt not the oil and the wine. - Rev.6:6

Rev.9:4 - And it was commanded them (the locust) that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men (people) which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. - See - The Grass, The Branch(es) and The Vine, also see, Sign, Mark and Seal of God. Also, refer to the definition of the word "locust" above.

the oil #1637 - elaion - AV - oil, from the same as #1636 - elaia - AV - olives, olive trees, olive berries.

the wine #3631 - oino - AV - wine, winepress - 1) wine, 2) metaph. fiery wine of God's wrath - a primary word (or perhaps of Hebrew origin #3196) - melos - AV - member 1) a member, limb: a member of the human body

So Rev.6:5-6, has two meaning here for the phrase "a pair of balances in his hand," in that it refers to the people being "yoked" or enslaved to Satan's way of life, as well as the balances are used for measuring - wheat and barley - food to eat - or in the spiritual realm - food for the mind.

So the Spirit of Christ is riding to keep us from falling under Satan's power or to keep us from going into bondage again (Gal.5:1) - if we study and listen, we will hear the spirit of truth.

Rev.6:7-8 - And when he (the Lamb) had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. (8) And I (John) looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell (or, Hades) followed with him. And Power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, (#4501) and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

sword #4501 - rhomphaia - AV - sword - 1) a large sword, 2) properly a long Thracian javelin, also a kind of long sword wont to be worn on the right shoulder - probably of foreign origin

I have explained much of verse 8 in a document entitled Four Sore Judgments

pale #5515 - chloros - AV - green, pale - 1) green, 2) yellowish pale - from the same as #5514 - Chloe - AV - Chloe - from apparently a primary word, "green" - Chloe = "a green herb"

I myself have never seen a "green" horse, so it must be referring to something in the "spirit realm" and therefore, the one riding the horse is the Spirit of Christ.

So the one riding all four of the horses is the Holy Ghost - the Spirit of Christ - the spirit of truth.

Providing all the numbers and definitions in the Strong's concordance are correct, I have done my best to show you who is riding the four horses using scripture as well as definitions.

This is not a stand alone document, it is meant to help you understand your bible, you will need to read and study.
