THE HUSBAND AND THE BRIDE--THE KINGDOM OF GOD

In this Lord's word explained bible study document, The Husband and the Bride--The Kingdom of God, I will give you scriptures to show that, the LORD God - Jesus Christ, is the husband of all of us, male and female. Jesus tells us his Father is the husbandman, and the new city or kingdom, is the bride. This does not mean that God prefers men! it just means that, God created us, and he will take care of us, if we follow his commandments.

The Husband/Husbandman

Is.54:5 - For thy Maker [is] thine husband; the LORD of hosts [is] his name; and the Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

Jer.31:31-32 - Behold, the days come saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: (32) Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day [that] I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith, the LORD:

Rev.1:8 - I (Jesus Christ - the Lord) am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is , and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Rev.22:13 - I (Jesus Christ - the LORD God) am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

Eph.3:9 - And to make all [men] see what [is] the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ (the LORD God).

Col.1:26-27 - [Even] the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: (27) To whom God would make known what [is] the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

So what is the "mystery" that Paul is speaking about, let us look at the next two scriptures.

Eph.5:32 - This is a great mystery: but I (Paul) speak concerning Christ and the church.

Eph.5:23 - For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. - See - Temples of God--Churches

The LORD God is the husband of us - both male and female - and No, the LORD is not gay.

Jesus Christ is the head of the church, and we, are a church. - See - Temples of God--Churches

Jesus Christ, the Son of God/Son of man, born of the virgin Mary, lived a righteous life, a true vine, came to show us by example, the way we are to live and conduct our lives and that the ten commandments could be followed completely by a human, as Jesus gave up his Godly powers when he was sent down to earth to be born as a human. Jesus came not to change or destroy the law, but to fulfil. We are to follow him - Jesus Christ in every way throughtout our daily lives.

Let us look at these next few scriptures in -

Matt.5:17-19 - Think not that I (Jesus) am come to destroy the law, or prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. (18) for verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. (19) Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Luke 16:17 - And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

Did Jesus Christ break any of the commandments? No. Why did Jesus not break any of the commandments? It is important for you to understand this and to encourage other to understand why Jesus did not break any commandments. - See - The First and Seventh Commandments

We are told that the way which leadeth unto life is through the strait gate which is narrow and there are few that find it. Let us look at the scripture in -

Matt.7:13-14 - Enter ye in at the strait gait: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: (14) Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Luke 13:14 - Strive to enter in at the strait gait: for many, I (Jesus) say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

...wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: .... - it is not committing yourself to God's ways, the commandments, all of them, but instead, following your own ways, doing some of the commandments when you feel like it and following some, or many of the works of the flesh. Read the above two scriptures again, and pay special attention to the highlighed sections. See - The True Vine, for a list of the works of the flesh.

I John 3:24 - And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, (God), and he (God) in him (you). And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

I John 4:13 - Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he (God) hath given us of his Spirit.

Notice - God has given us of his Spirit - we are a part of him and we are to follow the commandments, all of them and live a righteous life just as Jesus did. We are to follow him and his example.

We are referred to as sheep (and sometimes lambs) and we are to follow the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ. - See - The Good Shepherd

Jesus said in -

John 10:27 - My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me.

John 15:1 - I (Jesus) am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. See - The True Vine

GOD the Father is the husband of Jesus Christ.

The Lord God created or made the heavens and the earth and all that is there in, but GOD the Father is the head of the family. See One Christ--Many Members section in Spiritual Gifts and One Christ--Many Members.

Eph.3:9 - And to make all [men] (anad women) see what [is] the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ.

There are different levels/hierarchys of God - there is GOD the Father at the top, there is the Lord God/Jesus Christ a little lower, and there is "us" - we are "gods" at or near the bottom of the hierarchy. We are here on earth to see if we can follow the commandment(s) God gave us. Adam and the woman (Eve) broke the one and only commandment God gave them and most of us have been braking the first commandment ever since, because we do not understand that we are "gods," spelled with a small "g." We are here on earth to follow the commandments of God and do the Fruits of the Spirit, in otherwords, we are "gods" in learning or under tutors until the time appointed of the father, to get into the Kingdom of God. Let us look at the scripture in -

Gal.4:2 - But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.

When you die, or when the Lord returns to rule and reign whichever comes first, it will not necessarily mean that you will have a right of passage through the gates into the Kingdom of God to rule and reign with Jesus Christ when he returns. You have to earn your way into the Kingsom of God, or, work your way in by casting out the works of the flesh and doing the Fruits of the Spirit. Why? Because - strait is the gate and narrow is the way which leadeth unto life, and there be few there that find it - Matt.13:14, for many will seek to enter in, and shall not be able - Luke 13:14 - See - Parable of Ten Virgins - Wise and Foolish

The Bridegroom

The husband is also referred to as the bridegroom, who is Jesus Christ, our LORD and Saviour - the head of the church. See the scripture above in Is.54:5; Jer.31:31-32; Eph.5:23, 32; also see - The Ten Virgins--Wise and Foolish.

The Bride--The Kingdom of God

Rev.21:2-7 - And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. (3) And I (John) heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, [and] be their God. (4) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (5) And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true an faithful. (6) And he said unto me, It is done, I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. (7) He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. See - Fountain of Living Waters vs. Cisterns

Notice what it says in verse 3, "...the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, [and] be their God. The "tabernacle of God" is you and me. - See - Temples of God--Churches for more information on this subject. Therefore, the "holy city," "new Jerusalem," is you - it is the way in which you conduct/live your life. You must keep the commandments of God, all of them, conquer, overcome and gain the victory over all the works of the flesh, and do the Fruits of the Spirit. When you have accomplished all of this you have put on the "new man" (person), and have been "...renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him -Col.3:10 - See - The True Vine, for a list of the works of the flesh; also see - Ten Commandments; The First and Seventh Commandment; Heir and Joint-Heir With Christ; as well as - The Ten Virgins--Wise and Foolish.

You need to understand what the word "church(es)/tabernacles" is/are, in order to understand what the Bible is referring to when it uses the word church(es). - See - Temples of God--Churches

Let us take a look at some scripture regarding the "new man," or "new creature," and "a new name written."

II Cor.5:17-19 - Therefore if any man (or, woman) [be] in Christ [he is] (or, she is) a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (18) And all things [are] of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; (19) To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Eph.2:15-17 - Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, [so] making peace; (16) And that he (Christ Jesus) might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: (17) And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

The definition for the word "enmity" can be found in Works of the Flesh Word Definitions.

ordinance #1378 - N.T. - from the base of #1380 - AV - decree, ordinance - 1) doctrine, decree, ordinance; 1a) of public decrees; 1b) of the Roman Senate; 1c) of rulers; 2) the rules and requirements of the law of Moses; carrying a suggestion of severity and of threatened judgment; 3) of certain decrees of the apostles relative to right living

from the base of #1380 - a prolonged form of a primary verb, doko {dok'-o} (used only in an alternate in certaintenses; cf the base of #1166) of the same meaning - AV - think, seem, suppose, seem good, please - 1) to be of opinion, think, suppose; 2) to seem, to be accounted, reputed; 3) it seems to me; 3a) I think, judge: thus in question; 3b) it seems good to, pleased me, I determined

a prolonged form of a primary verb, doko {dok'-o} (used only in an alternate in certain tenses; cf the base of #1166) of the same meaning - a prolonged from of an obsolete primary of the same meaning - AV - show - 1) to show, expose to the eyes; 2) metaph.; 2a) to give evidence or proof of a thing; 2b) to show by words or teach

Let us take a look at the definition in the dictionary, it may make it a bit easier to understand.

The word definitions in this paragraph have come from the Webster's New Dictionary and Thesaurus, 1990, the word "ordinances" means that which is ordained by an authority; a law; an established rite. The word "rite" means a ceremonial form or observance, esp. religious; a liturgy. The word "liturgy" means the prescribed ritual of a church. The word "twain" means two, a couple, pair.

Let us look at the scripture again in Eph.2:15-17 - "...to make in himself (Jesus) of twain, one new man, ...." - two have become one - [so] making peace. He (Jesus) has abolished in his flesh, 1) enmity (hostility/hatred) for the ways of the Lord, and 2) [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances, (an established rite/tradition we have come to believe/accept). Jesus has reconciled (joined together) both the spirit mind and has gotten control over the works of the flesh in his body - he has slain the enmity.

What is the one "rite"/tradition that we think/believe we have had since the beginning? Let us take a look at the scripture in -

Gen.2:24 - Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

This is the scripture that most people take as a marriage union between a man and a woman, but the Lord made the woman for a "help meet," not a sex mate. The definition for the phrase "help meet" can be found in Mark of the Beast--666. Re-read Eph.2:15-17 above again, this so-called "established rite" here on earth - the ordinance, the enemy, or "enmity" this is the myth that Jesus came to subdue. When you commit fornication, or even lust after the flesh, that is when "spiritual death" occurs. Eventually, "death" will be destroyed, but in the meantime, you have to work at conquering, overcoming and gaining the victory over the works of the flesh every day, and probably the hardest one to conquer is fornication or lusting of the flesh. God told Adam that he could eat of every tree except the fruit of tree of the knowledge of good and evil and if he did eat of this tree, he would surely die. - Gen.2:17. And we know the woman (Eve), also understood they could not eat of this tree, because she told the serpent they could not even "touch it," lest they die. - Gen.3:2-3 {paraphased} I have explained "the tree of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil," in The First and Seventh Commandments. This is referring to a "spiritual death" that occurs if you disobey God's commandment. Let us look at a few scriptures of "death," to see what this is referring to in -

Rom.6:21 and 23 - What fruit had ye then in those things were of ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things [is] death. (23) For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord

Rom.8:6 - For to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace.

I Cor.15:26 - The last enemy [that] shall be destroyed is death.

Our enemies are the works of the flesh - these are the things that you have to conquer, overcome and gain the victory over. Jesus came to show us by example, the way to live our lives.

The Bible tells us that the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body. Let us take a look at the scripture in -

I Cor.6:13 - Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body [is] not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

And we have been espoused to one husband, the Lord Jesus Christ, let us take a look at the scriptures for this.

II Cor.11:2 - For I (God) am jealous over you with godly jealously: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I (God) may present [you as] a chaste virgin to Christ.

Is.54:5 - For thy Maker [is] thine husband; the LORD of hosts [is] his name; and the Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

Let me continue with scripture for a "new man," "new creature," and "a new name written," -

Eph.4:21-25 - If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: (22) That ye put off concerning the former converstion the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; (23) And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; (24) And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (25) Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

Col.3:2-10 - Set your affection (or, mind) on things above, not on things on the earth. (3) For ye are dead and your l ife is hid with Christ in God. (4) When Christ, [who is] our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. (5) Motify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: (6) For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: (7) In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them (the members mentioned in verse 5) (8) But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. (9) Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; (10) And have put on the new [man,] which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

If you are a "new man" (or, person) the deeds or, members which you have to correct, are the works of the flesh, these are the members that you have to conquer, overcome and gain the victory over, these are the members which you have to put away from yourself, in order to consider yourself as a "new man" or "new creature." Re-read Eph. 4:21-25 and Col.3:2-10 above again, and pay particular attention to the scripture in bold print.

Let us look at one more scripture for a "new man," "new creature," and "a new name written," -

Rev.2:16-17 - Repent; or else I (Jesus) will come unto thee quickly, and will fing against them with the sword of my mouth. (17) He that hath an ear, let him hear with the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I (Jesus) give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth [it.]

Don't forget "you" are the church, and "the sword of my mouth," are the words of God.

a new name written - Rev.2:17

Rev.3:12 - Him that overcometh will I (Jesus) make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, [which is] new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and [I will write upon him] my new name.

Rev.19:12 - His (the Lord Jesus) eyes [were] as a flame of fire, and on his head [were] many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

The next scripture shows us who the bride is -

Rev.21:9-10 - And there came unto me (John) one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, (John), saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. (10) And he (the angel) carried me (John) away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God.

Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God. - see - John 1:29 and 36.

I have already explained above what the "great city," the "holy Jerusalem" is above.

In the next few scriptures we are told, the gate is strait and narrow and even though many will seek to enter, there will be few that will find it - See - Parable of the Ten Virgins--Wise and Foolish.

Matt.7:13-14 - Enter ye in at the strait gait: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: (14) Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Luke 13:14 - Strive to enter in at the strait gait: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

Only those who can follow all of the commandments of God and conquer, overcome and gain the victory over the works of the flesh and do the fruits of the Spirit, those who pray, praise and glorify God in everything will be the Lamb's bride/wife, (both male and female) and will be heir and joint-heir to rule and reign with Jesus Christ when he returns for the thousand year reign. Only these people will be able to enter through the strait gate into the "kingdom of God." And Jesus tells us, "...few there be that find it." - See - Heir and Joint Heir with Christ; The First and Seventh Commandment; "...Marrying and Giving in Marriage...." Part I and Part II

If you think it is going to be easy to get into the kingdom of God - to rule and reign with Jesus Christ when he returns to earth to rule, then you are going to be mistaken. You are going to have to work hard now, to follow the rules or the commandments God has given us to follow in order to reap the rewards when Jesus returns. We are told that God's commandments are not grievous, let us take a look at the scripture in -

I John 5:3 - For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

God is looking for people to will follow the ways of Jesus Christ

Some of you will say, it cannot be done. I have shown you, it can be done - Jesus did it. Some of you will say, Jesus had Godly powers. I told you Jesus gave up his Godly powers and lived completely as we are here on earth - as human. And we see in the next scriptures Jesus asking the Father to glorify him just as he was glorified before to came to earth as a human. Let us take a look in -

John 17:1-5 - These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: (2) As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. (3) And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou has sent. (4) I have gloified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. (5) And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was,

as thou (God the Father) hast given him (Jesus) - John 17:2

John 6:37-40 - All that the Father giveth me (Jesus) shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. (38) For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. (39) And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. (40) And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Jesus lost only one that the Father had given him - the son of perdition, let us look at -

John 17:12 - While I (Jesus) was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

II Thes. 2:3 - Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come,] except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Jesus knew that it was going to be hard work living on earth as a human, but he came to show us by example, and we are to follow his example, that is - to love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, as well as, to love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. - Matt.22:36-40, these are called the two great commandments - See - Ten Commandments for a complete list of the commandments.

Many of us do not want to follow the commandments of God, because we do not want to give up the pleasures, (or, the lusts, the works of the flesh) the ways of this world. Some may think they are following the commandments of God, but are breaking them without even knowing it. - See - The Spirit Within and God's Discipline; The First and Seventh Commandment; "...Marrying and Giving in Marriage...." holy city -

Is.52:1 Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.

uncircumcised

I Cor.7:17-19 - But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I (Paul) in all churches. (18) Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised. (19) Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.

That means you will have to keep all of the commandments of God, you will have to conquer, overcome and gain the victory over all of the works of the flesh and do the fruits of the Spirit, in order to enter the holy city. Remember - Jesus said ...strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. - Matt.7:14, ...for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. - Luke 14:13 God does not leave any room for you to do your own pleasures - if you want to enter the new city, holy Jerusalem, you will have to follow the commandments of God - all of them. - See - The First and Seventh Commandments; Ten Commandments; "...Marrying and Giving in Marriage...." - Part I and Part II

the unclean -

I Cor.6:9-10 - Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, (10) Nor theives, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Eph.5:5-6 - For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor coveteous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. (6) Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience (unbelief).

Rev.21:27 - And there shall in no wise enter into it (the holy city) any thing that defileth, neither [whatsoever] worketh abomination, or [maketh] a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Summay:

So now we see that LORD God/Jesus Christ is our husband and God Father is the husbandman of Jesus Christ, the bride is the holy city, new Jerusalem and when it comes down out of heaven, he that has overcome will inherit all things, and there will be no more tears and no more pain, and God himself will be with us; but no unclean thing - that is anybody which defileth, or worketh abomination or maketh a lie, will not be permitted to live or inherit the kingdom of Christ or God, which means you need to keep the commandments of God - all of them. - See - Ten Commandments; The First and Seventh Commandment; "...Marrying and Giving in Marriage...." - Part I and Part II.

Again -

He that overcometh will inherit all things - the only way that you will be able to inherit is to follow the commandments of God, and to conquer, overcome and gain the victory over the works of the flesh, cast out the evil spirits, because Satan and his wicked ones are always there trying to get you to make a mistake. To some, the information in this document may sound discouraging, but I am explaining the Bible to you, so that you may have a chance to be a part of the "kingdom" of God - to rule and reign with Jesus Christ when he returns to earth to rule for a thousand years.
