In this document, Judgment, The First Resurrection and The Second Death, I will show you the judgment, who will be given judgment and those who will be in the first resurrectin, and then I will show you who will be in the second death and give you some additional scriptural information on death.
All text taken from the version of the King James Bible
Rev.20:5-6 - But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. (6) Blessed and holy [is] he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Okay, so there you have it - if you have part in the first resurrection, then the second death will not be able to touch you. Let us first look at the previous verse:-
JUDGMENT and THE FIRST RESURRECTION
Rev.20:4 - And I (John) saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I [saw] the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received [his] mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

his prisoner - a servant of the Lord
Eph.5:2 - And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
sweetsmelling savour - see "sweet savour" in Baptize, Salvation, Faith, Dead and Death for an explanation of this phrase
which had not worshipped the beast -
Rev.13:11-12 - And I (John) beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, but he spake as a dragon. reigned with Christ a thousand years -
Rom.8:16-17 - The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: (17) And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be glorified together. - See Heir and Joint-Heir With Christ

Also, see Rom. 8:17 above
open their eyes, -
Is.35:5 - Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
Is.32:3-4 - And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken. (4) The heart also of the rash (or, hasty) shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly (or, elegantly).
Matt.20:30-34 - And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord [thou] son of David. (31) And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, [thou] son of David. (32) And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you? (33) They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. (34) So Jesus had compassion [on them], and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.
In the above verse, there are two stories here, one, the blind men were given their vision so that they could distinguish objects in their environment; and the other story is, immediately upon receiving their sight, the men were able to see, hear, and understand the word of God, and they followed Jesus, they could have gone about their own business - but they followed Jesus.
John 8:12 - Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Is.42:7 - To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, [and] them that sit in darkness out of the prison house. - See - Parable of the Tares of the Field.
to bring out the prisoners from the prison -
Luke 4:18 - The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath annointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Is.61:1 - The Spirit of the Lord God [is] upon me (Isaiah); because the LORD hath annointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and opening of the prison to [them that are] bound;
I have explained Luke 4:18 and Isaiah 61:1 in the Parable of the Tares of the Field, so I will not go into it again her, but I will add to it.
Is. 42:7 - To open the blind eyes, to bring prisoners out of the prison, [and] them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
II Tim.2:26 And [that] they may recover (or, awake, or, arouse) themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
Heb.2:14 - Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself (Jesus) likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil; - See - Baptize, Salvation Faith, Dead and Death, also see The Second Death below.
I Peter 2:9 - But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises (or, virtues) of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
peculiar people -
Deut.7:6 - For thou [art] an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that [are] upon the face of the earth.
Rev.5:10 - And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
If we are going to reign on earth as kings and priests, it means that we must follow the laws of God - all the time - not just when you feel like it or when ever it happens to be convenient for you.
Jesus said in:-
Matt.5:17-19 - Think not that I (Jesus) am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. (18) For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. (19) Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them,] the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
I John 2:3-4 - And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. (4) He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
I John 3:23-24 - And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. (24) And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
I John 5:2-3 - By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. (3) For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Rev.22:14 - Blessed [are] they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
So you see, the commandments were not done away with, we still must obey the commandments - all of them, if you are to enter in through the gates into the city, the holy city - Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, Rev.21:2 - See - Ten Commandments; also, The Great Commandment(s); The Husband and The Bride - The Kingdom of God; Love One Another With Righteousness; Temples of God--Churches.
Jesus said in:-
Matt.15:9 - But in vain they do worship me, teaching [for] doctrines the commandments of men.
In Matt.19:17-21 Jesus tells a man what he must do to enter into life(17), and what he must do to have treasure in heaven(21)
Jude 14-16 - And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, (15) To execute judgment upon all, and to convience all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard [speeches] which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. (16) These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling [words,] having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints: -
Dan.7:10 - A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: (Jesus - the Son of man) thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.
Rev.20:12-13 - And I (John) saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. (13) And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell (Gr. Hades, or, the grave) delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
I will try to hit the high points and summarize for you, but you will still need to study. When the first resurrection occurs, we have the disciples who have followed Jesus into the regeneration, which is the old things passing away and the making of all things new again, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Those who follow Jesus into the regeneration even today will have part in judging the world, even judging angels provided that you have overcome, Rev.3:21; I Cor.6:2-3 and Rev.2:26-27, which is believing in Jesus, following God's commandments and not denying him, otherwise, he will deny you, II Tim.2:12. If we are children of God, then we are heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ, and we may suffer persecution as did Jesus and his disciples because of the testimony that they held and that we hold, so that we may be glorified together, Rom.8:16-17.
And the testimony is to open their eyes, and to turn the people from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may recover or awake themselves out of the snare of the devil who have them captive or prisoner at his will, so that they may receive forgiveness of their sins.
Now we are ready to discuss:-
THE SECOND DEATH
Rev.20:14-15 - And death and hell (Gr. Hades, the grave) were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. (15) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. - See Furnace of Fire/Lake of Fire
Rev.21:8 - ... the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Also see: - I Cor.6:9-10; Gal.5:19-21; Eph.5:5-6; I Tim.1:9-10 and Heb.12:14
Others that are cast into the lake of fire and brimstone - which is the second death.
Rev.19:20 - And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
After the thousand year reign of the priests of God and of Christ, Rev.20:6, Satan will be loosed out of his prison - the bottomless pit - for a little season, Rev.20:7 & 3
Rev.20:8-10 - And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom [is] as the sand of the sea. (9) And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. (10) and the devil that deceive them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet [are,] and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. - See Furnace of Fire / Lake of Fire
Rev.20:14 - And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. - See I Cor.15:26
Rev.20:6 - Blessed and holy [is] he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.REMEMBER: -
I Cor.15:25-26 - For he (Jesus) must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. (26) The last enemy [that] shall be destroyed [is] death.
second death hath no power - only if you are in the first resurrection
Rev.21:8 - But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death - See - Furnace of Fire/Lake of Fire
Rev.2:11 - He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death - See Rev. 20:14 and Rev.21:8 above
Rev.1:18 - I (Jesus) am he that liveth and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell (Gr., Hades, or the grave) and of death.
Ps.68:20 - [He that is] our God [is] the God of salvation; and unto GOD the Lord [belong] the issues from death.
the keys -
Rev.20:1 - And I (John) saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Keep in mind that John is in the spirit - Rev.1:10 and the vision that he may have seen was that of Jesus - Michael the archangel - or perhaps the Comforter/Holy Ghost/Spirit - it may have looked to him in the vision, as an angel. - See The Comforter, The Holy Ghost/Spirit, The Spirit of Truth - The Wisdom of God, (Matt.3:16).
Rev.1:18 - I am he (Jesus) that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
Rev. 1:18, shows us who has the keys of the bottomless pit or the keys of hell and death - it is Jesus, or the angel - Michael, the archangel, see scripture below.
Jude 9 - Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
The Lord - The Lord Jesus - Michael, the archangel.
Dan.12:1 - And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even] to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
II Peter 2:4 - For if God spared not the angel that sinned, but cast [them down to hell, (Tartarus - the pit), and delivered [them] into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
cast them down to hell -
Luke 8:31 - And they (the devils) besought him (Jesus) that he would not command them to go out into the deep. - see - Rev.20:2-3
In the above verse, Jesus and his disciples have met a certain man who has had devils for a long time, and when he saw Jesus he cried out to him and asked to torment him not. Jesus asked him his name "and he said Legion: because many devils were entered into him. The devil(s) besought Jesus that they would not be sent out into the deep. So Jesus sent, or cast the devils into a herd of swine, and the devils left the man and went into the swine and the herd ran down a steep hill into a lake and drown. You can read the rest of the story yourself. See - Luke 8:26-36
Rev.20:2-3 - And he (Jesus) laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, (3) And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan -
Rev.12:7-9 - And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, (8) And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. (9) And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
In the above few verses, Michael, is another name for Jesus. See - Dan.12:1 and Jude 9.
So in Rev.12:7-9 - the dragon, the devil or Satan, has been fighting with Jesus and his angels and the dragon, or the devil and his angels lost and they were cast out of heaven on to the earth. And in Rev. 20:2-3 - Jesus has laid hold on the dragon, the devil or Satan, and bound him up for a thousand years and cast him into the bottomless pit, and put a seal on him so he can not deceive the people until the thousand years are up.
Now let me go back and explain a few of the phrases in the above verses starting with -
death and hell (Gr., Hades, the grave,) were cast into the lake of fire - Rev.20:14
Heb.2:14-15 - Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself (Jesus) likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; (15) And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. - See - Parable of the Tares of the Field; also see Baptize, Salvation, Faith, Dead and Death
I Cor.15:26 - The last enemy [that] shall be destroyed [is] death.
that through death
I Cor.15:54-57 - So when this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal [must] put on immorality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. (55) O death, where [is] thy sting? O grave, (Gr., Hades), where [is] thy victory? (56) The sting of death [is] sin; and the strength of sin [is] the law. (57) But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Col.2:15 - Who is the image of the invisible God, the first born of every creature.
I Tim.1:10 - But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

Is.25:8 - He (the Lord) will swallow up death in victory, and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoke it.
See Rev. 20:14 above again.
death where [is] thy sting? - from I Cor.15:55
Hosea 13:14 - I (the Lord) will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will by thy plagues; O grave, I will by thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.
Jesus, the Son of God was born of the virgin Mary and was baptized by John the Baptist, after which he received the gift of the Holy Ghost, (Matt.3:16). He chose his disciples and taught them and after a few years was deceived by one of his own and crucified. He gave himself, as a ransom or an offering - "sweet savour" - so that we could be free. "Sweetsavour" is explained in - Baptize, Salvation, Faith, Dead and Death
strength of sin [is] the law - I Cor.15:56
Rom.4:15 - Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, [there is] no transgession.
In otherwords, if you do not have any laws, you cannot break the law, but we do have laws - we have the commandments, and they have not been done away with. - See scriptures above
thanks be to God - I Cor.15:57
Rom.7:25 - I (Paul) thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Rom.6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
I John 3:4 - Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgresson of the law.
- the commandments of God.
The victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. - I Cor.15:57
I John 5:4 - Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? - I John 5:4
I Cor.15:57 - please see above
Let me give you the definitions for the word(s) -
that overcometh and overcame #3528 - nikao - AV - overcome, conquer, prevail, get the victory - 1a1) of Christ, victorious over all His foes; 1a2) of Christians, that hold fast their faith even unto death against the power of their foes, and temptations and persecutions. - from #3529
The following scriptures have #3528 - nikao - Luke 11:22 (overcome); John 16:33 (overcome); Rom.3:4 (overcome); Rom.12:21 (overcome); I John 2:13, 14 (overcome); I John 4:4, 5 (overcome); I John 5:5 (overcometh); Rev.2:7, 11, 17, 26 (overcometh); Rev.3:5, 12, 21 (overcometh); Rev.5:5 (prevailed); Rev.6:2 (conquering & conquer); Rev.11:7 (overcome); Rev.12:11 (overcame); Rev.13:7 (overcome); Rev.15:2 (them that had gotten the *victory); Rev.17:14 (shall overcome); Rev.21:7 (He that overcometh)
The word *victory which appears in Rev.15:2 is also #3528 - nikao - AV - overcome, conquer, prevail get the victory.
from #3529 - apparently a primary word - AV - victory. This number can be found in I John 5:4
(In the Four Horses of Revelation, you will also find #3528 "conquering" and "conquer" with the same explanation.)
