This Lord's words explained bible study document will discuss, Parable of Talents--Not Every Body Shall Enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Even though Jesus is using a parable with talents, he is trying to explain to his servants what must be done in order to enter the kingdom of heaven.

All text taken from the version of the King James Bible

Matt.25:14 - The kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

[The kingdom of heaven is] as - Matt.25:14

Luke 19:12 - He (Jesus) said therefore. A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.

nobleman # 444 - N.T. - from #435 and ops (the countenance, from #3700); man-faced human being; - 1b2) - of from God and Christ - {there are numerous definitions for this number, I chose the one I felt was the best meaning for this verse.

"went into a far country" - Jesus came to earth as the Son of God/Son of man; in Rev.19:16, we see that Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

"to receive for himself a kingdom," - For the kingdom of God [is] not in word, but in power. - I Cor.4:20

"the kingdom of God" - For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance;.... - I Thes.1:5

"in much assurances" - That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of the Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. - Col.2:2-3

Jesus came to earth to put down all rule/sin, including death.

I Cor.15:25 - For he (Jesus Christ) must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

Ps.110:1 - The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

Heb.1:13 - But to which of the angels said he (God) at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?

Acts 2:34-35 - For David is not ascended into the heavens: be he saith himself, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, (35) Until I make thy foes thy footstools.

This next verse is referring to Jesus Christ who has gone into heaven -

I Peter 3:22 - Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

Eph.1:19-23 - And what [is] the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, (20) Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set [him] at his (God's) own right hand in the heavenly [places,] (21) Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: (22) And hath put all [things] under his feet, and gave him [to be] the head over all [things] to the church, (23) Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. - See - Temples of God - Churches

Luke 22:69 - Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.

Again -

I Cor.4:20 - For the kingdom of God [is] not in word, but in power.

So now I have shown you that the nobleman is Jesus Christ - who is King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, that Jesus came down to earth and overcame all his enemies and now sits on the right hand of the power of God, until he (Jesus) returns.

"who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods." - Matt.25:14

This is Jesus calling his disciples/servants, (you and me) and delivering his message to us. See - Brethren with Jesus Christ

Matt.25:15 - And unto one he gave five talents to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

talent(s) - is money, but it is also "a gift," which God has given each of us.

I Cor.12:7-12 - But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. (8) For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; (9) To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; (10) To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: (11) But all these worketh that one of the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. (12) For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

Rom.12:4-7 - For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: (5) So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. (6) Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophecy according to the proportion of faith; (7) Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;

"and straightway took his journey," - after Jesus gave his disciples/his servants their gifts/talents, he left or was crucified, (but he will return again.)

Matt.25:16-18 - Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. (17) And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. (18) But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.

trade with the same - Matt.25:16

Prov.3:13-14 - Happy is the man [that] findeth wisdom, and the man [that] getteth understanding. (14) For the merchandise of it [is] better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

I Peter 4:10 - As every man hath received the gift, [even so] minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace (or, joy, pleasure) of God.

(hid) his lord's money (or, talent) - Matt.25:18

Phil.2:21 - For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's

So you see, whatever gift or talent you have been given, you are to share with others, and to gain others, and you are not hide your talent or gift that you have been given. If you have been given the talent of teaching, then teach, if you have been given the gift of healing, then heal others, etc., but do so with out expecting payment in return. - See - Mission of the Disciples

Matt.25:19-21 - After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. (20) And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. (21) His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

I will make thee ruler over many things - Matt.25:21

Matt.24:47 - Verily I (Jesus) say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

Luke 12:43-44 - Blessed [is] that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. (44) Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.

Luke 22:27-29 - For whether [is] greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? [is] not he that sitteth at meat? but I (Jesus) am among you as he that serveth. (28) Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations. (29) And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me:

To explain "the joy of thy lord," let us look at:

Heb.12:2 - Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

So "the joy of thy lord" is the kingdom of heaven and living a righteous life.

II Tim.2:12 - If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he will also deny us:

Now back to the parable of talents.

Matt.25:22-23 - He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents besides them. (23) His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Again, we are shown that whatever gifts or talents you have been given, you are to also work to gain the same, and you will be made ruler over them.

Matt.25:24-29 - Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: (25) And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. (26) His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: (27) Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. (28) Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. (29) For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

unto every one that hath shall be given, - Matt.25:29

Luke 8:18 - Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have, (or, thinketh that he hath).

Mark 4:24-25 - And he (Jesus) said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. (25) For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

John 15:2 - Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every [branch] that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. - See The True Vine

Now back to the parable -

Matt.25:30 - And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Luke 13:28 - There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and you [yourselves] thrust out.

II Peter 2:13 - These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest: to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. - See - Fountains of Living Waters vs. Cisterns

Jude 13 - Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

Is.57:20-21 - But the wicked [are] like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. (21) [There is] no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

A "talent" is money, but the real meaning of this parable is, he (Jesus) gave them a certain gift(s), or talent(s) and they were supposed to use this to gain more and not keep it to themselves, or worse, not even use them. We are to give it freely, because freely we have received it, whatever the gift or talent is, whether it be a teacher, minister, healer, etc., you are not to hide your talent or keep it to yourself, and you are not to charge when you give your talent/gift or information to others.

So the meaning of this story is Jesus wants you to spread the word of God, heal others and bring others with you to know and understand God's word. It could be your spouse, your children, or other members of your family or friends, etc. But what God or Jesus is unhappy about, is the person who goes on doing their own thing and do not take the time to bring others to learn the word of God. Those who have received the information and do not help others to understand, then what they did have will be taken away from them and given to some body else. Those who have lost the ability to help other will be cast into outer darkness, that is, a place void, or absent without God, and there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, - Matt.25:30, and there is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked. - Is.57:21

And Jesus said in -

Matt.7:21 - Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father in heaven.

Rom.2:13 - (For not the hearers of the law [are] just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

James 1:22 - But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

In other words, if you want to enter into the kingdom of heaven, you not only hear the word of God, but you must also follow the laws of God and do the will of the Father in heaven, which is spreading the word of God - helping others, teaching, healing, ministering, prophecying, etc., to understand the word of God.

Matt.10:33 - But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
