In this Lord's Word explained Bible study, I will show you that the root or stem of Jesse, a righteous branch, Holy One and Saviour, are all one and the same, as are "his arm," the "good" shepherd, "the stone," and "the rock" -- are all referring to Jesus, who brought us salvation. This document will also have Why Did Jesus/Yeshua Come In The Flesh, as many of the scripture incorporate all of this information. For additional help in understanding this document, please read, The Spirit Within Us and God's Discipline, also, The First and Seventh Commandment, as well as, Marrying and Giving in Marriage, to be typed soon, please be patient.
All text taken from the King James Version of the Bible
Is.11:1 - And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem (or stump) of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots.

Acts 13:22-23 - ...he (God) raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the [son] of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will. (23) Of this man's seed hath God according to [his] promise raised unto Israel a Saviour Jesus:
Is.40:10-11 - Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong [hand], (or, against the strong), and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward [is] with him, and his work before him (or, recompence for his work. (11) He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry [them] in his bosom, [and] shall gently lead those that are with young.
Ezek.34:23 - And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, [even] my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.

Ps.98:1 - O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.
Is.59:16-17 -And he (God) saw that [there was] no man, and wondered that [there was] no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him. (17) For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance [for] clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak. - See - Baptize, Salvation, Faith, Dead and Death
Heb.13:20 - Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant (or, testament).
Rom.15:12 - And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.
Is.1:2-4 - And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, (Jesus) the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; (3) And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: (4) But with righteous shall he (Jesus) judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. See - Sword of the Spirit--Word of God.
Is.11:5-10 - And the righteous shall be the girdle of his loins, and the faithfulness of girdle of his reins. (6) The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. (7) And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shalt eat straw like the ox. (8) And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice den. (9) They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. (10) And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
This is the description of Christ's kingdom being foretold in the Old Testament, it goes on in verse 11, to tell of the second coming.
Is.11:11 - And it shall come to pass in that day [that] the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people,....
Ps.89:18-20 - For the LORD [is] our defence; and the Holy One of Israel [is] our king. (19) Then thou spakest in vision to they holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon [one that is] might; I have exalted [one] chosen out of the people. (20) I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I annointed him:
See Jer.23:5 and Acts 13:22-23 above again.
Rev.22:16 - I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and offspring of David, [and] the bright and morning star.
JESUS means Saviour
Matt.1:21 - And she (the virgin Mary) shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Let us also look at -
Luke 1:30-33 - And the angel said unto her, (Mary), Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. (31) And behold, thou shalt conceive, in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. (32) He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David. (33) And he (Jesus) shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his his kingdom there shall be no end.
Please read Genesis chapters, 32 - 35 for yourself to understand "the house of Jacob," I will briefly summarize. In Gen.32:28, we see that Jacobs name was changed to Israel, also in Gen.35:10. In Gen.35:22, it tells us Israel (Jacob) had twelve sons, thus we have the twelve tribes of Israel or the houses of Jacob. So when you see the word "Israel" in the Bible, it is probably not referring to the country of Israel, because the country of Israel did not come into existence until 1948, so it is probably referring to the house of Israel, or the tribe of Israel, because in Gen.35:11, we see that God told him Jacob/Israel, ... be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee,....
However, having pointed out to you the word "Israel" in the Bible will usually refer to the "house" or, "tribes," of Israel, if you read the Bible from a different point of view, it may refer to the country. You must decide which way you are going to interrupt the scripture when you are reading/studying, or listening to somebody speaking. I will always be referring to "Israel," as the house or, tribe, in all documents, unless I tell you otherwise.
Now let us look again at -
Luke 1:33 - And he (Jesus) shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his his kingdom there shall be no end.
So the "house of Jacob," are the tribes of Israel, or the people of Israel, (formerly known as Jacob's children, or offspring.)
Let us continue with -
Is.7:14 - Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Behold, a virgin shall conceive - Is.7:14
Matt.1:21-23 - And she (the virgin Mary) shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: (that is, Saviour,) for he shall save his people from their sins. (22) Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled withich was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
a son - Is.7:14
Is.9:6-7 - For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (7) Of the increase of [his] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it and to establish it with judgment and with justice from hence forth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Luke 2:11 - For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
shall save his people from their sins - Matt.1:21
Gen.49:10 - The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet until Shiloh come; and unto him [shall] the gathering of the people [be.] - See - Why Did Jesus/Yeshua Come in the Flesh - below
Jer.33:15-16 - In those days, and at that time, will I (the LORD) cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. (16) In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this [is the name] wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.
Acts 5:31 - Him (Jesus) hath God exalted with his right hand [to be] a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
Please see the explanation above for "Israel."
Heb.7:25 - Wherefore, he (Jesus) is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
I John 3:5-8 - And ye know that he (Jesus) was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin (6) Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither know him. (7) Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. (8) He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Why was Jesus manifested? To take away our sins. Read the above scripture again. If you sin, your are of the devil, we are to live a righteous life just as Jesus did, he (Jesus) overcame, conquered and gained the victory over Satan and all his tricks and/or promises by casting him out, or hence - Matt.4:10
Let me continue -
Rev.1:5 - And from Jesus Christ [who is] the faithful witness, [and] the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in is own blood.
is given - Is.9:6
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Acts 4:10-12 - Be it known unto you all, and to all the people (the offspring) of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, [even] by him doth this man stand here before you whole. (11) This is the stone which was set at nought of you buildrs which is become the head of the corner. (12) Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Now I will give you some scripture to show Jesus is referred to as -
the stone - Acts 4:11
Ps.118:22 - The stone [which] the builders refused is become the head [stone[ of the corner.
Matt.21:42 - Jesus saith unto them, (the people, including the chief priests and the elders of the people, see vs.23,) Did ye never read in the scriptures, the stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
I Peter 2:4, 6-7 - To whom coming, [as unto] a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, [and] precious (6) Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I (God) lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth [he is] precious: (or, an honour), but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner.
Also see - Is.8:14; 28:16; Mark 12:10; Luke 20:17; Rom.9:33; Eph.2:13-20
The stone is also known as "the rock." Please see - Ps.18:2, 31, 46; 28:1;31:1-5; 42:9; 62:1-7; Rom.9:33
I Cor.10:4 - And all did drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
So Jesus Christ is the corner stone, he is also called the rock, or Rock. Are you drinking of the spiritual Rock - the Lord's Words - the Holy Bible?
Neither is there salvation in any other: - Acts 4:12
Acts 10:38, 43-48 - How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. (43) To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name (Jesus) whosoever believeth in him (Jesus) shall receive remission of sins. (44) While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. (45) And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. (46) For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, (47) Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? (48) And he (Peter) commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they (the people) him (Peter) to tarry certain days.
Now let me go back and explain the words "forbid water," this is not referring to the substance in which you take a bath/shower, or float your boat, it is not H20, but the spiritual water - the living water or the fountains of living waters. Notice in the above scripture, that the Holy Ghost fell on them which heard the word, they were not immersed in the substance, H20. - See - Fountains of Living Waters vs. Cisterns
Now let me sum this section up, Jesus is our Saviour, the corner stone/our rock/spiritual Rock, by which there is no other who can save you. It is your belief and acceptance of Jesus Christ by which you shall receive remission of sins. It is also your total belief in Jesus in which you will receive the Holy Ghost. It is not necessary for you to have water sprinkled or poured on you, nor is it necessary for you to be immersed in water - that is H20. To be immersed in the water, means to be completely immersed in the word of the Lord - to follow him and the commandments - all of them.
the government shall be upon his shoulder: - Is.9:6
Matt.28:18 - And Jesus came and spake unto them, (the desciples), saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
I Cor.15:25-26 - For he (Jesus) must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. (26) The last enemy [that] shall be destroyed [is] death.
Also see - Dan.7:12-13; Eph.1:21; Phil.2:9-11; I Peter 3:22; Rev.17:14
last enemy [that] shall be destroyed [is] death - I Cor.15:26
Heb. 2:14 - Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he (Jesus) also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he (Jesus) might destroy him (the devil) that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
In the above scripture, Heb.2:14, what Paul is telling the people, is that even as we are flesh and blood, Jesus likewise came and lived as a himan on earth, and took upon himself our sins. Jesus was our sacrifice to God, he was the "sweet saviour" to God at Passover, so that it is no longer necessary to continue to offer up sacrifices. Jesus came and showed us how to live a righteous life - he overcame, he conquered and he gained the victory over Satan and cast him out of his mind/life, and he kept the commandment of God, all of them.
The last time the feast of unleaven bread, or passover, is mentioned in the Bible is in I Cor.5:7, where it tells us, ...For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us. It goes on to tell us in -
I Cor.5:8 - Therefore let us not keep the feast (or, holy day), not with old leaven, (Deut.16:3), neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened [bread] of sincerity and truth.
So, we are told not to keep the feast (or unleaven bread, or the holy day) by not eating unleaven bread for seven days (see Deut.16:3), but we are to keep the feast, or the holy day with sincerity and truth.
REMEMBER: - God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.
And Jesus told us in -
John 14:6 - ...I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me, (Jesus Christ).
John 1:17 - For the law was given by Moses, [but] grace (#5463) and truth came by Jesus Christ.
John 8:31-32 - Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed; (32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free
We are to believe in Jesus Christ who came and was crucified at Passover - the last one to be observed in the old tradition, because Jesus Christ became the sacrifice - our sweet savour unto God, now we are to observe his holy day with sincerity and truth, because truth came by Jesus Christ.
Col.2:6-7 - As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: (7) Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. - See - Tithing and Charity
We are to rejoice at the death of Jesus, BECAUSE, Jesus came and showed us how to live a righteous life, to overcome, to conquer and gain the victory over the devil/Satan by casting him (the devil/the serpent/Satan) out of our mind/life.
I Peter 2:21 - For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
Jesus came and suffered for us and left us an example, to follow in his footsteps. - See - The First and Seventh Commandments; "...Marrying and Giving in Marriage...." - Part I and Part II
Now let me go back and finish explaining Heb.2:14, ...that through death he (Jesus) might destroy him (the devil) that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
Now we saw above, that Jesus came to show the people a new way, that through the sacrifice and death of Jesus, those who believed in him could be made free of the devil, and Jesus will come again and bound or chain up the devil for a thousand years, so that he (the devil) will not be able to influence the people, and once again Jesus will teach those who do not believe in him, and show the people the ways of the Lord. At the end of that thousand years, the devil will be let loose, and again some will follow the ways of the devil, but only for a short time, because those that follow the devil this time, will be destroyed the same way the devil will be destroyed in Rev.20:10
Let us look at -
Rev.20:12-15 - And I (John) saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is [the bok] of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to there works. (13) And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell (Gr. Hades, or, the grave) delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works (14) And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. (15) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
I explained earlier in this document that Jesus offered himself as our "sweet saviour" to God at Passover, so that it is no longer necessary to keep putting Jesus through the open shame of sacrifice year after year, (see Heb.6:6), but, we are to keep the day in unleaven bread of sincerity and truth - I Cor.5:8. And Jesus came and showed us how to live a righteous life - how one can overcome, conquered and gain the victory over Satan by casting him (Satan) out of your mind/life, and we are to keep the commandment of God, all of them. See explanation above.
the open shame #3856 - N.T. - from #3844 and #1165 - AV - make a public example, put to open shame - 1) to set forth as a public example, make an example of; 1a) in a bad sense; 1a1) to hold up to infamy; 1a2) to expose to public disgrace - found in - Matt.1:19 (twice); Heb.6:6
from #1165 - from #1164 - AV - make a show - 1) to make an example of, to show as an example - found in - Col.2:15 - however, this is referring to Jesus spoiling the principalities (eg., the wicked ones) and triumphing over them.
bread of sincerity #1505 - N.T. - from #1506 - AV - sincerity - 1) purity, sincerity, ingenuousness - found in - I Cor.5:8; II Cor.1:12, 17
from #1506 - from heile (the sun's ray) and #2919 - AV - sincere, pure - 1) pure, sincere, unsullied; 2) found pure when unfolded and examined by the sun's light - found in Phil.1:10; 11 Peter 3:1 - For Synonyms see entry #5840 O.T.
Now, while I have explained about the keeping of Passover (and/or Easter), let me also tell you that Jesus was NOT born on December 25th. This is a pagan tradition, and if you look Christmas up in a good encyclopedia, it will explain this for you, used the Encyclopedia Britannica. You might need to use an older version of an excyclopedia, the newer versions may have made some changes.
We are told in -
Col.2:8 - Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
