TEMPLES OF GOD - CHURCHES

In this Lord's Word Bible study document Temples of God - Churches, I will show you that your body is a temple, also referred to as a church, and that it is wrong to abuse, degrade, defile or destroy it.

All text taken from the King James Bible

Let us begin this Bible study with a prayer, O God, thy heavenly Father, grant me the wisdom and knowledge, so that I may be able to understand this document, in Jesus name. Amen.

I Cor.6:19 - What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

II Cor.6:16-18 - And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God and they shall be my people. (17) Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you, (18) And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

God has given you a little part of himself to see what you are going to do with it. Are you going to love God, and follow his ways? or are you going to destroy yourself. The choice is yours to make. See - Fountains of Living Waters vs. Cisterns. and What Defiles a Person.

II Cor.5:10 - For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in [his] (or her) body, according to that he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad.

John 2:19 - Jesus answered (the Jews) and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

Well the Jews thought Jesus was referring to the structure of the building and told Jesus that it took forty-six years to build the temple, how could he possibly re-build it in three days. See - John 2:20.

John 2:21 -But he (Jesus) spake of the temple of his body.

I Cor.3:16-17 - Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? (17) If any man defile (destroy) the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which [temple] ye are, See - What Defiles a Person.

I Cor.3:9 - For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, [ye are] God's building. - See - The Husband and The Bride - The Kingdom of God

Let me review - we can now see that your body is a temple -- ...for ye are the temple of the living God;... II Cor.6:16, and ...Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?, I Cor.3:16, What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?, I Cor.6:19, For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, [ye are] God's building, I Cor.3:9

building - I Cor.3:9

Eph.2:20-22 - And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner [stone;] (21) In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: (22) In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Col.2:7 - Rooted and built up in him (Jesus Christ) and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

I Cor.3:10-11 - According to the grace of God which is given unto me, (Paul), as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. (11) For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

So, -

Col.2:8-9 - Beware lest any man (person) spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments (or, elements) of the world, and not after Christ. (9) For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Let me continue with scripture for temple/body.

Rom.12:1-2 - I (Paul) beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God [which is] your resonable service (2) and be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

chief corner [stone] - Eph.2:20

Ps.118:22 - The stone [which] the builders refused is become the head [stone] of the corner.

Is.28:16 - Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner [stone,] a sure foundation; he that believeth shall not make haste.

Matt.21:42 - Jesus saith unto them (the chief priest and the Pharisees,) Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

The "builders," spoken of in Ps.118:22 and Matt21:42, is referring to the priests/rabbi, the one's who should have been teaching the Lord's word to the people, but rejected it. Do not confuse this with the word "building" explained above.

Again, I must state, as I have stated before in other documents, that we are not to hate our brethren, we must forgive them, because if you do not have the love of God within you, then you are not one of God's children, and God will judge them at the appropriate time, not you and me today.

When we are referring to "building" here, we are not referring to lumber, bricks, stones, mortar, steel and glass, we are referring to a person, an individual.

So the building/temple/body/mind, is built upon the foundation of the apostles, and the prophets, and Jesus Christ is the chief corner stone - Eph.2:20, and we must be vigulent not to follow the philosphy, vain deceit or the traditions of men in this world, Col.2:8, For no other foundation can man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ, I Cor.3:11.

Therefore -

present your bodies - Rom.12:1

I Cor.6:13 - 20 - Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body [is] not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. (14) and God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power. (15) Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make [them] the members of an harlot? God forbid. (16) What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. (17) But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. (18) Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. (19) What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? (20) For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's

Now let me give you the definitions for -

fornication #4202 - AV - fornication - 1) illicit sexual intercourse; 1a) adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, intercouse with animals etc.; 1b) sexual intercourse with close relatives, Lev.18; 1c) sexual intercourse with a divorced man or woman, Mk.10:11, 12 - adultery; 2) metaph. the worship of idols; 2a) of the defilement of idolatry, as incurred by eating the sacrifices offered to idols, and this comes -

from #4203 - AV - commit fornication, commit - 1) to prostitute one's body to the lust of another; 2) to give one's self to unlawful sexual intercouse; 2a) to commit fornication; 3) metaph. to be given to idolatry, to worship idols; 3a) to permit one's self to be drawn away by another into idolatry; and this comes -

from #4204 - AV - harlot, whore - 1) a woman who sells her body for sexual uses; 1a) a prostitute, a harlot, one who yields herself to defilement for the sake of gain; 1b) any woman indulging in unlawful sexual intercourse, whether for gain or for lust; 2) metaph. an idolatress; 2a) of "Babylon" ie., Rome, the chief seat of idolatry; (Matt21:31-32; Luke 15:30), and this comes

from #4205 - AV - fornicator, whoremonger - 1) a man who prostitutes his body to another's lust for hire; 2) a male prostitute; 3) a man who indulges in unlawful sexual intercourse, a fornicator - which is akin to

akin to the base of #4097 - AV - sell - 1) to sell; 1a) of price, one into slavery; 1b) of the master to whom one is sold as a slave; 2) metaph; 2a) sold under sin, entirely under the control of the love of sinning 2b) of one bribed to give himself up wholly to another's will. (Matt.13:46; 18:25; 26:9; Mark 14:5; John 12:5 (twice); Acts 2:45; 4:34; 5:4; Rom.7:14

So you can see the word "fornication" covers a lot of meaning, it includes, "harlot, whore, whoremonger," are among the definitons, as well as "to sell," in otherwords - what is known today as pimping, is called a whoremonger, in the Bible.

One of the definitions for the word "harlot" in the Old Testament, means "to be unfaithful (to God) (fig.)

Now let me continue to explain the phrases -

The Lord - I Cor.6:13

I Thes.4:3-4 - For this is the will of God, [even] your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: (4) That every one of you should know how to prossess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

In the above scripture the word "vessel" is referring to "his body," or, your own body - see definition below.

vessel #4632 - N.T. - AV - vessel, goods, stuff, sail - 3) metaph; 3a) a man of quality, a chosen instrument; "Vessel" was a common Greek metaphor for "body" since Greeks thought of souls living temporarily in bodies.

The Lord for the body - I Cor.6:13

Eph.5:23-24 - For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. (24) Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so [let] the wives [be] to their own husbands in everything

The above scripture has two meanings 1) is referring to the wife is subject to her husband as in a marriage to one another, 2) Jesus is the head of the church and that all of us are subject unto him to obey and follow him. See The Husband The Bride--The Kingdom of God

God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us - I Cor.6:13

Rom.6:5 - For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also [in the likeness] of [his] resurrection:

for two, saith he, shall be one flesh - I Cor.6:13

Gen.2:24 - Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Please note, it said, "...one flesh," not one spirit, they are two different things. If you choose to marry somebody of the opposite sex, then you are one flesh, if you remain single, or have become a widow and you choose to devote your life to serving God, then you are in the spirit with God - see I Cor.7:1-2, & 32-33 below. Let me continue with scripture for - "for two, saith he, shall be one flesh."

Matt.19:5 - And said (Jesus is speaking) For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

In I Cor.6:18, we are told to "flee fornication," and he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. I have given you the definition for the word "fornication." But if you cannot remain a virgin then Paul tells us in -

I Cor.7:1-2 & 32-33 - Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: [It is] good for a man not to touch a woman. (2) Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. (32) But I (Paul) would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord: (33) But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please [his] wife.

against his own body - I Cor.6:13

Rom.1:24-25 - Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, (or, minds), to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: (25) Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. - See - Mark of the Beast--666

In the above verse, the word "creature," is referring to another human being, and the "Creator" is God. I will give you some scripture for the word "creature," so you can understand better.

II Cor.5:17 - Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Gal.6:15 - For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

In the above two scriptures, it shows us that if we repent of our ways of the works of the flesh, and do the fruits of the Spirit, follow the ways of Jesus and keep the commandments, all of them, we become a "new creature." Therefore, the "creature," is a person/human being - that is you and me. So, in the above scripture, Rom.1:24-25, the phrase, "...and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator...." is referring to worshipping another human being more than worshipping and serving the Creator/God.

Please continue reading this chapter. Also see I Thes.4:14 above.

Now let me go back and explain some of the other phrases, beginning with -

what [is] that good, and acceptable, - Rom.12:2

Eph.5:10 & 17 - Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord - {See - Phil.1:10} (17) Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord [is]

I Thes.4:3 - For this is the will of God, [even] your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication.

Read the above verse again carefully. Take note of the following - Abstain from what? How do you qualify for sanctification? What is the will of God? These questions are answered in the above verse, I Thes.4:3. I have given you the definition for the word "fornication," earlier in this document.

I have given you a number of scriptures to show you that your body is a (living) temple/building, I Cor.6:19, II Cor.6:16-18, I Cor.3:16-17, and I have shown you how you are to treat your body/temple and present it to God, Rom.12:1-2; I Cor.6:13, Eph.5:23; Heb.10:20; I Peter 1:14; I John 2:15-16; Eph.1:18; Eph.4:23; Col.3:10; Eph.5:10 & 17; I Thes.4:3

Your body is one, but it is made up of many members all working together, each member having their own gift or speciality, eg., most people have 2 legs, and each leg works separate from the other, yet they work together, in order to walk; so to, the church of God has many members or individuals, which make up the body (or, group) of the church, each member, or individual, is separate, yet we work together as one for Christ.

Rom.12:4-7 - For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: (5) So we [being] many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. (6) Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, [let us prophesy] according to the proportion of faith. (7) Or ministry [let us wait] on [out] ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;

You can continue reading this chapter for yourself, or See - Spiritual Gifts Of God--One Christ Many Members.

grace #5485 - N.T. - AV - grace, favour, thanks, thank, thank + #2192, pleasure - 1a) that which affords joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, charm, loveliness: grace of speech; 2a) of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowlege, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues - from -

from #5463 - a primary verb - AV - rejoice, be glad, joy, hail, greeting, God speed, all hail, joyfully, fairwell - 1) to rejoice, be glad

I Cor.12:12-14 - For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also [is] Christ. (13) For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether [we be] Jews or Gentiles, whether [we be] bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one spirit. (14) For the body is not one member, but many.

In the following scriptures, we find Paul telling us that he is not worthy of being called an apostle because he persecuted the church.

I Cor.15:9-10 - For I (Paul) am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. (10) But by grace (or, strength) of God I am what I am: and his grace which [was bestowed] upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

I (Paul) persecuted the church of God - I Cor.15:9

Acts 8:3 - As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed [them] to prison.

he made havock #3075 - middle voice from a probably derivative of #3089 (meaning filth) - AV - make havoc - 1) to affix a stigma to, to dishonour, spot, defile, 2) to treat shamefully or with injury, to ravage, devastate, ruin

middle voice from a probably derivative of #3089 - a root word - AV - break, destroy, break down - 3d) to do away with, to deprive of authority, whether by precept or act; 3e) to declare unlawful; 3f) to loose what is compacted or built together, to break up, demolish, destroy; 3g) to dissolve something coherent into parts, to destroy; 3h) metaph., to overthrow, to do away with

and haling #4051 - probably akin to #138 - AV - draw, drag, hale - 1) to draw, drag; 1a) on one before the judge, to prison, to punishment

probably akin to #138 - probably akin to #142 - AV - choose - 1) to take for oneself, to prefer, choose

probably akin to #142 - a primary root - AV - take away, take, away with, lift up, - 1) to raise up, elevate, lift up; 1b) to raise upwards, elevate, lift up: the hand; 3h) to take from among the living, either by a natural death, or by violence, 3i) cause to cease

In other words, Paul made the lives of the people, (men and women), quite difficult to carry on with their belief in the Lord Jesus Christ, because he would punish or destroy them, in some way.

Before somebody e-mails me and tells me I made a mistake - in I Cor.15:9, I said it was Paul, yet in Acts 8:3, I said it was Saul. Saul's name was changed to Paul - see Acts 13:9.

In Acts 9, Saul went to the high priest to get letters so that if he found people who believed in Jesus Christ, that he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. As Saul went on his journey he heard a voice f rom heaven asking him "Saul, why persecutest thou me?" - Acts 9:4

Acts 9:5 - And he (Saul) said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: [it is] hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

[it is] hard for thee to kick against the pricks - Acts 9:5

Acts 5:39 - But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

So, in Acts chapter 9, Saul, (later named Paul) had gotten letters from the high priest to persecute the people who believed in Jesus Christ, but when Jesus spoke to him, he became afraid and is bewildered and the Lord tells him what to do, and the Lord called upon the disciple named Ananias to go unto Saul and lay hand on him so that he might receive his sight. Now Saul has been physically blind for 3 days, but he was also spiritually blind. And Ananias is afraid to go to him because of the letter which Saul as obtained -

Acts 9:14 - And here he hath authority from the chief priests (of the Jews) to bind all that call on thy name.

Acts 9:15-16 - But the Lord said unto him (Ananias), Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: (16) For I (the Lord) will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.

See the definition for the word "vessel" above.

I (Paul) labour more abundantly than they all: - I Cor.15:10

II Cor.11:23 - Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I (Paul) am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frewuently, in deaths oft.

Please continue reading the rest of chapter 11.

So Saul (Paul) changed his ways with the grace (strength, or, help) of God and that is why he said -

So, here is Saul (Paul) who persecuted the people, men and women, who has changed his ways with the grace (or, strength) of God, who then laboured more abundantly to tell the people about Jesus Christ--a complete turn around in his life, with the grace, or help of God

But what is more important to see and understand is, that Saul (Paul) could not throw a church in prison if it is made of lumber, brick, stone, mortar, steel and glass--he could only put people in prison. "I persecuted the church of God," I Cor.15:9. Therefore, each person is a church or temple. Please re-read the scripture at the beginning again.

Let me give you another one to show you the church(es) are people.

Gal.1:21-24 - Afterwards I (Paul) came into the regions of Syria and Cilica; (22) And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ: (23) But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in past times now preacheth the faith with he once destroyed. (24) And they glorified God in me.

Now once again, a building/church which is made up of lumbar, bricks, stone, mortar, steel and glass cannot recognize a face, neither can it hear - only people can see and hear - so read Gal.1:22 above again. The people, (or churches), did not recognize Paul's face, but they had heard that in the past he had persecuted the people, but changed his way, and was now preaching the faith which he once destroyed.

In I Timothy, chapter 3, we are told how a person who desires the office of a bishop should conduct themselves, you can read this for yourself, I will just use -

I Tim.3:15 - But if I (Paul) tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground (or, staying, undergirding) of the truth.

Again -

In Eph.5:23-24 - For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body (24) Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so [let] the wives [be] to their own husbands in everything.

Refer above for the meanings of these verses.

Col.1:18 - And he (Jesus) is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence.

So, Jesus is the head and the saviour of the body - the church - and you are the body/church/temple/building, these are all words which are used to describe the "living" church of God

he (Jesus) is the head of the body, the church - Col.1:18

I Cor.8:6 - But to us [there is but] one God, the Father, of whom [are] all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom [are] all things and we by him

Let me continue with scriptures for "body"

Rom.12:1-2 - I (Paul) beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [this is] your reasonable service. (2) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God. - See - Parable of the Fruit - Tree of Life; Commandment to Work

a living sacriface - Rom.12:1

Heb.10:20 - By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated (or, made new) for us, through the vail, that is to say, his flesh;

be not conformed to this world - Rom.12:2

I John 2:15-19 - Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (16) For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. (18) Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. (19) They went out from us, but they were not of us: for if they had been of us, they would [nodoubt] have continued with us: but [they went out] that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. - See - Sign, Mark and Seal of God; Mark of the Beast--666

Did you catch that? There are many antichrists in this world - any person who does not believe that Jesus came in the flesh is of the antichrist. Any person who is against keeping the commandments of God is of Satan/the wicked ones, or of the antichrist. Notice what it says in verse 19 - They went out from us, but they were not of us: - we were created in the image of God and we are to love God, not the things that are in this world - read I John 2:15-16; we are not to worship the "creature/human being" more than we love God - Rom.1:25; ...but [they went out] that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us - in other words, in the beginning man started out all right, but disobeyed God. Read the story of Adam and the woman (Eve), also read, Mark of the Beast--666; Sign, Mark and Seal of God; Antichrist.

Also notice in I John 2:18 - ...whereby we know that it is the last time - See - Judgment, The First Resurrection and The Second Death

I Peter 1:14 - As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

I John 2:15-16 - Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (16) For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. - See - Iniquity and Vanity

be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind - Rom.12:2

Eph.1:18 - The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Eph.4:23 - And be renewed in the spirit of your minds

Col.3:10 - And have put on the new [man,] which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

a new and living way - Heb.10:20

John 10:9 - I (Jesus) am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out and find pasture - See - Parable of the Good Shepherd

John 14:6 - Jesus saith unto him, (Thomas), I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Heb.9:8 - The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing.

"Tabernacle" is another word for temple/church, and this is referring to Jesus - in otherwords, there was no way into the kingdom of heaven until Jesus came and died for our sins, and now you must believe in Jesus as the Son of God/Son of man, who came in the flesh, died, for our sins, in three days, rose from the dead and now sits on the right hand of God - all of this information can be found in various documents on this site.

know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you - I Cor.6:19

II Cor.6:16 - And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them;] and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

IICor.6:17-18 - Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing;] and I will receive you, (18) And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

ye are temples of the living God - II Cor.6:16

I Peter 2:1-5 - Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, (2) As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: (3) If so be ye have tasted that the Lord [is] gracious. (4) To whom coming [as unto] a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, [and] precious (5) Ye also, as lively stones are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

You can see from the above scriptures, I Peter 2:1-5, that we, as lively stones (living), are to put aside all malice, guile, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking if we are of God. "Spiritual house" is just another word for temple, and don't forget that Jesus is the chief corner stone, the head of the church which is the body.

Hosea 14 1-2 - O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity. (2) Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive [us] graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips. - See - Tithing and Charity

In other words, we have gone astray - followed our own ways, our own iniquities and are falling flat on our faces; what the Lord God is asking us to do, is repent - change our ways, that is turn back and follow the Lord and offer up prayers with our lips.

come out from among them - II Cor.6:17

Is.52:11 - Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean [thing;] go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.

Rev.18:4 - And I (John) heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. - See - Four Sore Judgments; My Lord Shall Come--When

Jer.51:6 Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this [is] the time of the LORD's vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence. - See - Iniquity and Vanity

I think the above scriptures are pretty self explanatory - we are told to come out from among them - among who - those who are not following the ten commandments and observing God's feasts and holy days, but are following man's traditions, and who are full of iniquity and vanity, but these people, who do not follow God's commandments will receive of her plaques. - See - Four Sore Judgments.

And if you come out from these people, then God -

will be a Father unto you .... - II Cor.6:18

Jer.30:22-24 - And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God. (23) Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD goeth forth with fury, a continuing (or, cutting) whirlwind: it shall fall (or, remain) with pain upon the head of the wicked. (24) The fierce anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have done [it,] and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it. - See - Four Winds (Spirits) of Revelation; Four Sore Judgments; The Four Horses of Revelation.

Please read all of Jeremiah, chapter 30

Jer.31:1 & 9 - At the same time, saith the LORD, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people. (9) They shall come with weeping, and with supplications (or, favours) will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim [is] my first born. - See - Fountain of Living Waters vs. Cisterns

Rev.21:7 - He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I (the Lord God) will be his God, and he shall be my son. - See - Heirs and Joint-Heirs With Christ

The only way that you are going to overcome, is to follow the commandments of God, and strive every day to be better than the day before. If you remember to follow the second of the great commandments - to love thy neighbour as thy self, it will be much easier to deal with others when they have upset you. On the otherhand, you do not have to take abuse from any body, but walk away, and ask God to help you deal with the problem. Remember, vengence is mine saith the Lord. You also need to overcome, conquer and gain the victory over the works of the flesh and do the fruits of the Spirit. - See - The True Vine

I Tim.6:7-10 - For we brought nothing into [this] world [and it is] certain we can carry nothing out. (8) And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. (9) But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and [into] many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men (people) in destruction and perdition. (10) For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred (been seduced) from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

I think it is quite clear from the scriptures quoted here, that every person is a temple/church sometimes referred to as a vessel, body, or building, and it is therefore your responsibility that you not abuse, degrade, defile or destroy your body/temple, or the body/temple of another person. You are the one who is responsible for what you allow yourself to think and participate in, and we must learn to "love thy neighbour as thyself," and this does not mean becoming a 'harlot, whore or a whoremonger' as spoken about in the bible. See - What Defiles a Person.

We are also referred to as "the creature" in Rom.1:25, and a "new creature" in II Cor.5:17 and Gal.6:15

INDEX

Let us end this Bible study with a prayer - O God thy heavenly Father, please help me to be a better person each day, to follow the commandments, and help me to strive each day to be more in thy presence, help me to overcome, conquer and gain the victory over the works of the flesh and to do the fruits of the Spirit, in Jesus name I ask. Amen.
