Welcome to Agassiz Registered Kennels, home of  the incredible, fun loving, hard working Australian Cattle Dogs! The Australian Cattle Dog is a breed that has been in existence for over 100 years.  At Agassiz Reg. Kennels the ACD has lived with us for 17 years!

Our kennel is located not far outside the town of Lindsay, Ontario just north of the small hamlet of Cambray.  We live on a very special piece of property where the dogs have  trails through the bush to explore, a beautiful big pond to swim and a very nice kennel building, fondly known as the "Doggy Hilton" to reside.  Our house is also an integral part of our dogs lives.  Our Doggy Hilton sports a very nice doggy living room for our dogs to hang out on the couch, watch television, listen to the radio and raise their puppies.  The house is where they come up to relax by the fire on a cold winter night or cool  down after a swim in the pond by laying around on the deck on a warm summer night.

ACDs from Agassiz have been placed all over the world in homes where they work livestock, perform in obedience trials, compete in conformation shows, have fun in agility and rally obedience, work search and rescue, are registered therapy dogs and also enjoy being just plain "couch potatoes" and family members.  We are a small kennel operation that is dedicated to preserving the integrity of the breed.  We stand by our dogs and offer lots of support to those that have obtained dogs from our kennel or others that are in need of advise and understanding for the breed.  We have also helped other ACDs in need of new homes.

Dogs have always been a part of our lives when we were growing up and will always continue to be. Over twenty years ago, I owned my first purebred dog, the beautiful Alaskan Malamute and actively raised them for many years before becoming involved with the ACD.   Approximately 18 years ago I became fascinated with the Australian Cattle Dog and have been in love with the breed ever since! I have been actively showing dogs in conformation for approximately 20 years and have taken a keen interest in obedience, agility and herding as well .  Charlie grew up with beagles, but when he became part of the Agassiz family, the ACD found a place in his heart as well.

Dogs from our kennel carry various types of titles to their names, as well as many have passed their herding instinct test.  All breeding stock from our  kennel have had their hips x-rayed (OFA or OVC), eyes examined (CERF, ERG or DNA test for PRA) and have had their hearing checked (BAER).  Puppies are raised with the utmost care and consideration.  Prospective puppy buyers must answer lots of questions!

Agassiz Reg'd Kennels for the past many years has very much enjoyed sharing resources with some very fine ACD breeders and enthusiasts.  To mention only a few....Janice and Neil Taylor, of Catalyst Reg'd Kennels (formerly Catttlemaster prefix), Cindy Ghent of  Triblue Kennels, Chuck Lamers and Rick Bullied, who are great ambassadors for the breed and , Mary and Carlton Wieland of Dreamtime Kennels, Michigan, long time ACD breeders.  We have worked together to help improve the breed and throughout the years have seen so much contentment with our "puppy people". Janice sums up our vision in one small statement, "breeding Australian Cattle Dogs is our passion not just a business".   All these people and many more have been a great help to our kennel.  All wonderful people with an awesome bunch of dogs!
