extremely versatile breed derives its name from the New Forest in Hampshire,
England where the breed originated. Their size and sturdiness along with their
marvellous temperament make them an excellent
choice for both children and adults. While narrow
enough for children to ride, these large ponies are
quite capable of carrying an adult all day, thanks to
their long, low stride--more like that of a horse than
the choppy gait usually associated with ponies.
They are extremely easy keepers and can easily
live outside year round with pasture or hay,
water, and access to a shelter.
