Welcome!
The issue of police and political accountability is not new in Ontario. Much has been said on the subject in the past and resulted in many legislative changes. My name is Milan Novak and I created this website to encourage a discussion on police and political accountability after the Niagara Regional Police Services withheld services from me in 2002 on account of my former employer's involvement in a crime against my person.
I have learned since then that the vast majority of police officers would never think to break the trust of those they swore to protect and that regardless of how good a legislative change, nothing will change when it comes to a political system unwilling to acknowledge there is a problem. Law enforcement is unlike any other type of public services. It is a command structure where legislated democratic principles of transparency can, and they did in Ontario, give way to political interest.
This site tells my own story as well as the story of a community that continues to be victimized by a group of social predators because the police put my former employer above the law. In its ultimate irony, I live in St. Catharines, Ontario, a community still trying to come to terms with the horrid murders by a team of social predators Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka. Is there a connection?
