Started
in 1975 as a private museum in the home of Ron Moon of Corbyville, the
Belleville Scout-Guide Museum has grown to be one of the largest collections
of Scout-Guide memorabilia on permanent display in Canada. The museum
features over 40,000 items which include books, magazines, journals,
postcards, stamps & first day covers, newspaper articles, uniforms, badges,
mugs, pins, belt buckles, woggles, banners and posters to name just a few.
Any item which is associated with boy scouts and/or girl guides is
considered a collectable and a memorabilia item which preserves history.
Museum tours are free and by appointment only.
Please call in
advanced to book a tour.
The museum has been funded by donations from community groups
but looks to individuals for their continued support.
Preserving scouting/guiding history is the mandate of the museum. If you
have any scout-guide items or know of someone that has items that they are
discarding, the Scout-Guide museum will accept all articles.
The museum will also come to your event using portable static displays. The
museum has displayed at the last 4 Canadian Jamborees, CCJ’05, Great Lakes
Jamboree, Igloo @ Blue Springs and the Dorchester International Brotherhood
Camp. If you wish the museum to come to your event please provide at least 6
months advance notice.
