Baud Rates

Baud: 1200, 4800, 9600, 19.2K, 57.6K, and also 115.2K non-dense data
Parity: Odd or Even with 7 Bits Data, or None with 8 Bits Data.
........RECORD and PLAYBACK have separate Baud rate settings.

Port Configuration DTE: Will plug onto Windows PC DB9 Connector without null modem.
Recorder Capacity 256 Mega Bytes, (256,000,000), Continuous Stream: 74 hours at 9600 Baud
Memory Non-Volatile. Retains data for many years without power.
Flow Control

Input: Requires No Flow Control Handshaking, Model SR256 does not go busy
while recording. Exception: 115.2K Baud Setting is not guaranteed.
Output: will respond to flow control if sensed. Model SR256 will stop playing back data if it's DB9 Pin7 input is set to -V (-3Volt to -12Volt level).

Operator Control 1 six position rotary knob. Provides user indication of operating mode.

6 - 9 Volt DC Wallmount Adapter, or 9 Volt Battery (limited use 7 - 14 hours).
Current Consumption: Average typical <10ma during RECORD.
Minimum Input Voltage: 4.5 Volts

Power Switch Rotary Switch position physically disconnects all power sources.
Setting Up Baud Rate Adjust front panel switch setting to SETUP. A dialog begins with a terminal.
Set separate Record and Playback Baud Rates, use a terminal or Windows
HyperTerminal. No software is required. Setup always runs at 9600, 8 N, 1
To Record

• Move rotary switch from PLAY to RECORD.
• Previous recording is automatically erased.
• Recording starts immediately.
• All data on Model SR256 DB9-Pin3 input is recorded. No other signals are required.
• Recording starts at the beginning of 256MB memory.
• Move rotary switch to PAUSE for temporary ignoring received data, or to append data at another location.
• A Nul Modem connector may be required to place data signal on Pin 3.
• Leave Model SR256 to record as long as you wish, up to 256 megabyte limit, as long as it has power.

To Playback

• Move rotary switch to PLAYposition. This ends the recording mission.
• The saved data is immediately output on Model SR256 Pin 2.
• You may plug Model SR256 onto a PC COMM Port, and use
your application to receive the data. (eg. Windows HyperTerminal).
• You may also connect Model SR256 to a printer, if the data you recorded is printer data.
• Move rotary switch to PAUSE to temporary halt data output.
• You can use SETUP to set playback at a higher baud rate to speed up transfer.
• Play back the data as many times as you require.
• Memory will retain for many years without power.

LED Indicators • RX Recording LED: Illuminates with data bytes being received.
• TX Playback LED Illuminates with data bytes being output.
• Record Failure LED: Helps user assure recording.
Options T-TAP device, taps into existing systems without interferring with operation.
External Battery Power Cord with alligator clips, for 6 Volt lantern batteries, extends operation to 30-60 days.

Front Panel Control

This is the only control used on Model SR. No other control is necessary. Control is quick and clear. The use of a control knob gives positive
identification of the mode when the unit is visited.
To Record a new mission:
Move knob from PLAY to RECORD.
(records at beginning of 256mb memory)
Data records without any need for flow control.
DB9 Connector
Standard RS232 Pin Configuration simply requires just two pin connections, (Pin5 & Pin3) to record data.
This also interfaces to a PC DB9M COMM PORT which can be used for testing, setting up, recording or playing back data,
( just connect an extension cable).
Alternate PC Connection Use USB adapter cable.
