Welcome!
Are you a genealogy
junkie? Well then, you've come to the right place.
You know, we the genealogically-obsessed are very fortunate. There are so many great people out there writing books, compiling transcriptions, maintaining websites, doing research etc... all in aid of our sleuthing. Many thanks to all of them!
Family Lines is bit different. The primary focus here is on helping you share the information you've already compiled.
Perhaps you've decided it's time to publish the results of all your painstaking research. You want more than just a list of names and dates. You want to tell your family's story in an entertaining, readable way, and create a document your family will treasure. We can help. Using either an electronic file or copies of your paper forms and notes, we can create the narrative you're looking for. And we can publish it in a variety of ways. Would you like a printed book, perhaps with custom illustrations? What about an html document with photos and links for the reader to explore? Whatever publication format you choose, it will be a wonderful way to share your family's story.
Make genealogy come alive for the kids in your life with paper dolls created from your old family photographs! Because I draw each doll's face individually, it's important to have a good quality photo that's large enough to show the details clearly. If you'd like, I can also reproduce a particular outfit, for example a wedding dress. All the drawing is done on computer using Corel DRAW™. The dolls are professionally printed for quality, and come with wardrobes and support stands, bound in book format. It's nice to include a page or two of information about the people that the dolls represent so that the children who receive them can learn more about their ancestors. And you know, the dolls aren't necessarily just for kids. They can be fun gifts for grownups as well, or party favors at family reunions. We can also create family colouring books.
In addition, we also do some basic research and look-ups. My particular areas of genealogical interest are the Bay of Quinte region and Peterborough County, both located in Ontario, Canada. If you have ancestral connections in either of these areas and you would like to have something checked, copied or verified I'd be happy to help. I charge $20 per hour plus expenses for things like photocopying.
This site is a work in progress, and comments, questions, or suggestions are always welcome. Just send an email to familylines@sympatico.ca. Thanks for stopping by!
