Shown above is
the logo of Glocken-Verlag (“Publishing House of the Bells”), a
company formed in 1935 by Franz Lehár when his copyrights were returned to
him after the Theater an der Wien, managed by the same person who owned the
rights to Lehár’s music, closed its doors. (When asked why he chose the name,
the composer said facetiously, “Perhaps because I heard the bells toll for
the Theater an der Wien.”) The logo appears at the bottom of my home page merely because of my great admiration for this composer. |
