Vernon McIlwraith wrote a column "Member Way Back" from 06 Mar 1948 to 1964, many featured a senior citizen plus a photograph. From 22 May 1952 he began a column under the name "Vane" entitled "Current Comment". From 30 June 1952 he used his own name. The column continued until Vern retired in 1971. He also wrote a column "In Days of Yore" in the early 1960's. - 65 and "As it Happened" from 1970 to 3/1979. McIlwraith died in 1981.

Findlay I. Weaver's came from Kitchener to Guelph. His columns are better researched than McIlwraith's. Fin began a series "Glancing Back to Districts Early Days" from 6 Mar 1948 to 2 Jun 1962. Findlay's major column was "Lore of Bygone Days", from Jun 1948 to 9 Jun 1967 when he retired at age 89.
