I was in the process of developing a were creature for my Arabian style and Maztica campaigns after I had read a book, many years ago now forgotten, where a memeber of the group in the book was a were panther (Black Panther infact). I liked the idea so much that I had to add it as a creature in my casmpaign.
At the time I had written up a character, as an NPC (Female, African type) for my Arabian style but later allowed a female player to play that character, and it worked well.
She had a secret, and that was that at certain times she could transform, into the Black Panther form, and most times she could control it, but as a weekness (if that is the term you would like to use) she could not control it, and would either completly or slightly transform. See the picture upove for an Idea of partiually transforming :)
The Idea was shelved for a long time, The group had parted, I had moved several times and finnaly moved to Canada (from Australia) and that is when the campaign started again (new players and scenarios). I found the Al-Qadim mailing list and found a copy of what someone else had written of such a creature. So the idea is being reserected again in my campaign.
I decided, rather than re-write something that was written so well. That I would instead just mould it slightly to fit into my campaign.
Bernard has also touched on a secret cult for these creatures and some back ground, both which I will try to insert into my campaign, largely unaltered.
While you wait see the original write up (were-panther) by Bernard Delhausse as posted in the Al-Qadim list. He has gratiouly consented for me to post it here, Thank you for that Bernard :).
So here is the "werecat" as she appears in my campaign :))
