This site was set up to follow the progress of modifying a Sharplan model 3000 100 watt medical yag laser into a metal cutting and marking industrial laser. My applications are for cutting out Stainless steel stencils for use in applying solder paste on printed circuit boards.

My knowledge on this subject is limited but improving. A great place to begin a project like this is at the following website Sams Laser Faqs my other source of information is the ALT.LASERS usenet group.

Project consists of increasing the length of the resonator by approx. 16" to allow for a better TEM00 mode of operation. Also adding a Q-Switch for better punch on metal applications.
