Subject: Battle of Longwoods Scout / Guide camp

Date: Thu, 21 Oct 2004 17:33:23 -0400

Hello,

Battle of Longwoods Scout / Guide camp weekend, May 7 & 8, 2005.

Could you please pass on the following information to all your Scout and Guide leaders?

My name is Dave Westhouse and I am the President of the Upper Thames Military Re-enactment Society. Our group portrays the 1st (Royal Scots) Regiment of Foot from the War of 1812.

Our group organizes and runs the annual Battle of Longwoods Heritage Days Weekend at Longwoods Road Conservation Area just west of London, Ontario each year on the first full weekend of May. Part of this re-enactment event is a camp for area Scouts and Guides.

The camp is in the modern group camping area of the park and is limited in space so the bookings are made first come first served. Scout and Guide groups can camp this year from Friday May 6th to Sunday May 8th. Last years price of $3 per Scout/Guide is currently being reviewed but will still remain low.

The camp includes;

- Camping site

- Firewood

- Use of picnic facilities

- Trails

- Access daily to period camps (US, British, Native)

- Front row seating during the battle re-enactments

- Saturday evening entertainment, which could include

- Cannon firing demonstration

- Mini Militia

- Personal campfire chat with a soldier of the War of 1812

- Period sutlers (merchants)

- Camp certificate

For further information on this great camp experience go to our website at,

Or contact me.

Thank you for you time and please book soon, space is very limited.

You may not have your years activities booked yet. Plan on this great one for the year end?
