“Suffer the little children to come unto me.”
(Luke 18:16)

Parents - There are many programs for your children!

Sunday School

Here's how it works:  The whole congregation meets in the sanctuary for worship at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday.  There is a time early in the service that is geared towards the children, after which they leave the sanctuary and head to their respective classes. We have 6 classes separated by age. T hey are 3 and 4 year olds, 5 and 6 year olds, Grades 2 and 3, Grades 4, 5 and 6, Grades 7 and 8, and high school youth.  Each class uses a United Church approved, age-appropriate curriculum that ties in with the adult part of the worship service.  A wide range of activities takes place in each class including arts and crafts, bible passages and quizzes, storytelling, debates and drama.

The Sunday School participates in a number of special projects throughout the year, including intergenerational worship on Thanksgiving, a family Christmas Eve service, fund raising for our foster children, and a year-end service and picnic.  The children also enjoy decorating the church and preparing the bulletin covers for special services.

Children's Choirs

St. Matthew's has an English hand bell choir for children.  You do not have to be a member of the church to participate with the Choirs.  The choir leader will teach you to ring bells if necessary.    Interested in one of these choirs? Call the church office for details of practice times.
