Camera On Tripod

I just happened to look up at the right moment - sun almost
directly overhead and lo! Camera always at the ready - this is the best
on an aging roll of Kodak Max400 (not a personal fav film).
|
I carry my camera everywhere and all winter
watch for Sun Dogs - this is a pretty good one from March 2003. Minolta
X-700, Fuji Superia 400 over-exposed 2 stops to compensate for the Sun. |
Always wanted my own picture of lightning and finally
had the chance to take one from my front yard without getting wet
or killed. |
Here are some recent Star Trail photos and a very recent shot
of Comet Bradfield:

June 22 2003: Supra 400 and 24mm f2.8 Nikkor
at f8.0 for 4 hours - meteors or fireflies? You be the judge! Note the
faint background aurora.

Comet Bradfield taken April 27th 2004 at
4:30am in a farmer's field. Nikon F2 w 50mm lens set at f2.0 and Supra
400.

I have been fortunate to see some really amazing aurora in the last cycle.
My three favourites from Sept 7, 2002 are here:
Here are some pics from the Oct 30, 2003 display(s). Given the warnings,
lots of astrophotographers got great pics - here are my best. The first
row were taken with a 24mm f2.8 Nikkor at f2.8 and all for 30 seconds on
Supra 400 print film.
Here are some more pics from the Oct 30, 2003 display(s). This row were
taken with a 16mm f2.8 Zenitar fisheye at f2.8 and all for 40 seconds
on Supra 400 print film.
