In a charade, there are no indicators per se. The solution is
simply broken up into smaller parts which are clued in turn to make up
the whole, just as in the parlor game Charades. The component
parts
should be etymologically unrelated to the solution word: for
example,
the word mankind should not be clued as man+kind.
Sample clue:
Mafia leader had dinner with Grant (6)Here's Grant again, but this time he's at the end of the clue. The charade is DON + ATE. DON is Mafia leader; ATE is had dinner. With is another connecting word between the definition and the wordplay, along the same lines as "is" in the hidden word example.
