This is the final update of the fall 2003 migration season.
We officially closed the station on Monday, November 10. Banding and
census totals were rather meager in November as weather was often too
cold, windy or wet.
We did manage to capture a Northern Shrike and a Cooper's Hawk since
the last update. In November, banding totals consisted of small numbers of
Kinglets, Creepers, Tree Sparrows, Hermit Thrushes and Black-capped
Snow Buntings, Redpolls and impressive numbers of Long-tailed Duck
were a certain sign of winter and therefore, the time to proof,
computerize, and analyse the fall data. Watch for a report on fall, 2003 in
the coming months.
On behalf of Toronto Bird Observatory and Toronto and Region
Conservation Authority, I would like to thank all of the volunteers for their
assistance this past field season! Hope to see you all again in spring,
