Stan French became a composer through his love of music, not by formal instruction. He has been a trombone and guitar player for most of his adult life. Since moving to North Bay from Toronto in 1986, he performed with the North Bay Concert Band while it was active, and was a founding member of the 22 Wing, Canadian Forces Base North Bay Volunteer Band in which he currently plays Bass Trombone. Other than his band experience, his only education in music came through high school classes and two elective courses at the University of Waterloo while studying for a BSc. Professionally, Stan is a Registered Nurse who works full time in a civilian hospital and part time as a Captain and Flight Nurse in the Air Force Reserve. His caring attitude and love of Canada are qualities that can be heard in his march "Unity". |
