My 2 Cents

A blog that's older than the term "blogging" itself. Updated about monthly, sometimes more often. Read about the latest swap meet, plates in the news, and general commentary. Sometimes it's right, sometimes it's wrong, usually it's grammatically correct, but it's always engaging. Click here for the latest column.

Looking for 1947 Ontario, Excellent or better

I need an original 1947 Ontario auto plate in at least excellent condition. Pictured is a mint one on eBay that I bid $425 on, and I was still the runner-up. It was in mint original condition with no bends, no scrapes, and not a molecule of rust. Got one that nice? Short or regular length is OK, but the condition must be eye-popping. Let me know, send a huge picture of it, and name your price.

I Buy License Plates!

Got a collection of plates to sell? Let me know and send a pic or two. I'll buy collections of plates, large or small, if they contain years or types I need. I will pick them up in person if possible, or reimburse your for all postage costs.

Collection Showcase

Not in my collection-- but this is one of the new Ontario Green Vehicle plates. Interesting design-- the border is screened on, not embossed. Click here to zoom in.
The G20 summit, held in Ontario in June 2010, required front-mounted single plates for dignitaries' vehicles. Note the dash divider, and absence of the Queen's crown. Click here to enlarge image.
This is a 1940 test plate, with a very unusual, numeric-only format. Sample plates from this era should have an A between two pairs of zeroes.
A neat low number for an early Ontario plate year. This plate has excellent original colour, and is made of a much heavier steel than later 1919 plates.Click to enlarge.
