L'escale 2003 L’Escale
translates as stopover. The extended references in this piece to
allude to the expansion of international commercial culture into areas
of the world where linguistic or political features or the fact of
modest economies may have previously set up constraints. It also refers
to the increasing mobility of all people around the world, with the
extended presence of commercial culture as an intermediary.
