Soapstone Whale sculpture, beautiful lines and colours
Sold  'Family Outing'

One of a kind, 11 inches tall, Brazilian soapstone whale sculpture #1

The Sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) is one of the seas most recognized behemoths and will most likely be remembered as the main character in Herman Melville's book 'Moby Dick', a Literary Classic.

A giant among marine mammals, a female sperm whale weighs around 18 tons and measures about 35 feet. Calves drink approximately 45 pounds (20 kg) of milk each day and at about one year of age a young sperm whale begins feeding on its own.
Its mother is never very far away though, and responds very defensively if a calf is threatened.
