About the Quinte Irish Canadian Society:

The Quinte Irish Canadian Society is based in Belleville, Ontario, Canada. It was founded in 1979 in an attempt to promote interest in and encourage all people to celebrate Irish culture in all aspects.  

Some of the goals of the society are:

  • To preserve and transmit Irish music, singing and dance though lectures, concerts, socials, plays and classes in Irish music, language and dance.
  • To serve our community by sponsoring activities emphasizing education, friendship and by supporting the efforts of other local groups.

Irish music session

Bring your whistle, accordion, fiddle, bohdran, flute, guitar... and join in the fun. Share the tunes you know, learn a few new ones, and have some fun. All levels of musicians are welcome.

Child and young adult (kindergarten to high school) Irish Dancing

What exactly is Irish dancing?

Taught by Orla Kelly a TCRG certified teacher from the Kelly School of Irish Dancing. Lessons are held at the Engineers Hall (43 Pine Street, Belleville).

Next session starts Thursday January 13th.

· Class 1 (Beginners – new students only) 4:30pm - 5:30pm

· Class 2 (Intermediate) 5:15pm – 7:00pm

· Class 3 (Advanced) 6:30pm – 9pm

Lessons are held on alternate Thursdays. For new dancers the 1st lesson is free. Cost for the complete session (13 lessons) ending mid-June:

· Class 1 - $156

· Class 2 - $195

· Class 3 - $260

Adult ceili and set dancing

An informal gathering of people interested in celi and set dancing. What is set and ceili dancing? Everyone is welcome. No experience is required, you do not have to come as a couple. The best part is that it is FREE, although we ask you join the QICS if you start to come out regularly.
