WHAT:  Maplecon 2010 QRP Gathering

WHEN:  August 20-22, 2010

WHEREEmily Provincial Park, City of Kawartha Lakes (Omemee), Ontario

        Group Campsite #1

 

THEME:  Portable, Emergency Ready Communications

 
WHY:  To gather with fellow QRPers for a fun/relaxing weekend of camping, QRP operating, demonstrations, telling of tall tales, show & tell, swap/trade/sell of equipment surplus to your needs, and chance to win fabulous prizes!

WHO:  QRPers from across Ontario and the surrounding areas

 

ACTIVITIES

·       World’s Simplest Antenna Building Contest included with every paid registration, with prizes to the winners!

1.          Create and build a homebrew antenna

2.          Bring it with you to the event

3.          Set it up and use it to make QSOs

4.          Attendees to vote on best design, and a performance based winner too

·       Yan from youkits.com will be on hand to demonstrate the HB1A and TJ6A Transceivers

·       BBQ lunch

·       Chili Dinner as Sponsored by the Ottawa Valley QRP Society and Chilimaster VE3XJ

·       Portable QRP Operating set-ups, learn from the other attendees

·       Chance to meet other QRPers face-to-face and exchange ideas and discuss radio

·       Swap / Trade / Sell Saturday afternoon

·       Attendance Draw Prizes and Raffle Prize

·       Operate the “Official Event Station” VE3CW

Day Visitors (non-camping) are Welcome, for a cost of $10, please Email VA3JFF to make arrangements.

 

MAPLECON includes:

·       Tent camping at the group site (sorry, no trailers permitted on the group site)

For those in need of a trailer site, campgrounds can be reserved on the Parks Ontario Reservation Site.  The Hill and Circle campgrounds are closest to the Maplecon Group Site. 

 

·       Park access fees are extra and paid at the gate

Ont. Persons with Disabilities - Per Person (Age 18 +) $2.25

Regular - Per Person (Age 6 – 17) $1.25
