Becoming a veterinarian requires hard work and determination. Veterinary students spend over 3000 hours in class and over 1000 hours on clinics before they graduate from the four year program. There are only 4 veterinary schools throughout Canada, however there are several more in the United States. The curriculum and entry requirements at all veterinary schools in North America are similar. To gain entry to the Ontario Veterinary College, very specific application requirements must be met. These include two full years of university studies focused on sciences, along with the applicant's score from the MCAT. To have the best chance at acceptance, a university average of 80% or higher is recommended. Further information:
